Well, the wording on BBC forecast this morning said widespread thunderstorm for SW England I'm sure. Only 2.6 mm of rain fallen here which I wouldn't call a lot.
EDIT: Sorry guys, I've got me "gloomy glasses" on as they say. I'll just keep on waiting this evening and overnight just to see if I get anything at all.
Just down the road from you in Plymouth, we have had around 14mm of rain. Like you, I am disappointed that we missed out again.

Getting really lively down here now. Quite a few sferics in SE Cornwall.
-
I have a feeling those of the coast of Wales/Ireland are meant to be from the Lundy/North Devon Coast storms? Blitzortung says so at least.
Correct. This is one drawback of using a system that tries to determine strike distance from signal strength. Distance usually becomes accurate over time, but with this type of activity can be quite difficult as the cells tend to be short lived. Similar effect can be seen from other detectors such as http://www.isleofwightweather.co.uk/StormVueNG.htm

Rain is approaching the SW, not too heavy, but there are some brighter echoes developing. No sferic activity yet.
-
There is a small cell just to the right of St Austell Looks to be tracking NE towards Liskeard area.
-
Risk of Thunder for Cornwall and the Scilly Isles tonight. Saturday and Sunday could get very interesting here too!
Lets hope so. Will be keeping an eye on things......
-
Very distant rumbles of thunder hear in Plymouth....
But the sferic activity has died down for a bit. Hopefully he is just resting lol
-
There has been quite a lot of lightning activity already off the SW coast. Its making slow progress N / NE. Had some lively bursts on the detector. Plymouth is currently 16.5 Degrees and 98% humidity. Had a hefty shower around 8am.
-
There are storms over cornwall progressing slowly eastwards. Never seen my storm tracker so active!
-
Sky getting nice and dark now on this beautiful webcam!
It feels like night time in plymouth. Its very quiet here........
-
its currently gone quiet, and not picking up much sferics. It could be having a rest i guess / hope

Here in Plymouth, Devon, the temperature has risen in the last hour. Now currently 21.2degrees and 68% humidity (dew point 15 degrees).
Its feeling really muggy now............
-
Quite a lot of sferics in the channel. Looks like the time i spent calibrating my detector has paid off - im plotting fairly close to what metoffice are reporting.
Clouds have started bubbling up here. Temp is only 21degrees 61%humidity.
-
Currently its 18 degrees and 60% humidity. My boltek has nicely picked up on the activity in the channel and north west france. Hope it comes this way.....
-
well its gone mad here in plymouth. lightning, and a river of hail running down the road.
-
Just had a couple rumbles of thunder here. Sky gone dark....
-
Had one or two showers this morning in Plymouth. Nothing too significant as of yet. There have been a few sferics across the channel already this morning, but nothing organised.
-
Thanks for the update as usual Coast. Looking at nexstorm, there is a lot of sferics out there, all just a bit too far out. Fingers crossed for later. Had some beefy showers yesterday pm with hail but no thunder.
-
Afternoon all. Had 20mm + of rain so far today. Main rain band has now cleared and now turned showery. There have been some strikes out over the channel but nothing close yet. Showers are getting beefy so let's hope lol.
-
Heavier rain now starting to arrive in Devon. Total rain so far only 3.8mm, but looking at the radar - its starting to intensify. Lightning detector also starting to pick up sferics from France.....Hope tonight will bring some coastal storms
-
Absolutely naff all here again. I'm willing to bet that no one has less storms that me .. quite mind boggling.
Same down here in Plymouth sky has turned black again, we are in for heavy rain, but no light show!
I think i have a blocked gutter ...............
-
Just had a real downpour - 178mm/hr recorded. Was quite brief, but sadly no thunder. Looking at my detector, there is a lot going in east devon, somerset. dorset and activity in Wales. Somehow i think the shiled is active over plymouth.
-
Well what a day! Had some beefy rain this morning, 18.2mm in total today so far. Seen some sferics on just off the north cornwall coast - these have died down now, but seems to be a lot going on across the water - as always!. 790 strikes recorded today - not as high as i was expecting....
-
Chris Fawkes on the BBC one O clock news mentioned Thunderstorms over South West England & Wales this afternoon, then later into the Midlands today???
There have been a few sferics off the cornwall coast within the last 2hrs, however these have died off for the time being.
