This looking interesting. The early ppn is looking to be building as it comes to Beachy Head. We still have a NE wind here the other side of BH, and the temperature has fallen quickly since sundown, hovering right now at +0.7 with ground colder and frozen. That looks highly unlikely to be a recipe for rain and is falling as snow on W Sussex.
I’m a bit surprised there isn’t more being said about it - ok, it’s not heavy stuff and maybe it won’t come to anything but seems to be more ppn on the radar than expected?

Anyone watching metoff radar. There appears to be perception popping up around Basingstoke. Like it's convection.. mostiture from the low getting a bit further north than progged?
I’m keeping an eye on it! Maybe wishful thinking, but would love a top up

It really is a first world problem, but the sound of dripping after a snowfall is a very sad thing

Thanks, it seems the main routes are okish unless you hit high ground.
There had been sliding veichles just South of Gatwick on the A23 earlier.
I feel your pain BTW. I have a three year old ( at home with mum fortunately) Dad wants to get home to them later!
All the best, hope you make it home without any complications! Looks like the snow is stopping for us so that might help clear things

Did ypur journey take you via a23?
I need to get home later ( if possible) m25, a23 etc
Getting some horror reports road wise higher parts of Brighton!
No I was coming back along the B2112 but had to divert through Burgess Hill due to a car that was stuck. Made it back eventually on A273 (Isaac’s Lane), didn’t go on the dual carriageway so not sure how the A23 is I’m afraid

Just drove from Ditchling to Haywards Heath, should normally take 10 minutes and took me over an hour - roads are bad and cars getting stuck. Relieved to get back safely as I had my toddler in the back and I couldn’t take much more Cocomelon

I’ve been feeling nostalgic this week and reminiscing about the big snow event in December 2010, I think I remember the weather in the last week of November 2010 being cold and clear (like the forecast for the next few days) before the snowiest spell I’ve ever seen hit and buried us under a foot of snow here in West Sussex - does anyone know if I’m remembering correctly?
Obviously not saying that will happen this time… but it would be nice…

Very light snow blowing in the wind here in Haywards Heath (West Sussex/East Sussex border) but doesn’t look as though we’re going to get any laying snow from this particular event. Still, the cold is now in and hopefully more surprises will follow.

I have mixed feelings about this upcoming event - I bought a sledge back in 2018 after the BFTE and haven’t been able to use it yet. We had falling snow on 24th January here in Haywards Heath and I watched it fall from the window of the hospital room where my daughter had just been born (love that she was born on a snow day, even if it did melt almost instantly!) Now it looks like we finally have a good shout at some decent snow but the chances of my wife being ok with me going out sledging whilst she looks after the baby are slim

1-2cm of snow here, starting to melt already. Bit disappointing overall, I’d give it a 4/10 as an event. Clearing snow off the car doesn’t happen every year and it’s nice to feel the squeak and crunch when you walk on it, but felt there was potential for more snow here that never really materialised. Still, we had some, and it’s only the 1st February so still time for more!

Snow depth of 2.5cm here in Harrow
London looks like being sweet spot tonight
Early daze
East Kent looks like the place to be going by what’s coming on the radar!

Do you think it's the easterly wind that's going to blow this back across us to give heavy snow through the night, as per my forecast for Ashtead Surrey?!
No idea I’m afraid! Haven’t a clue what’s going on frankly, just hoping the snow keeps on piling in!

Some shower activity into West Sussex, yay!
I have my eye on that too, hope it keeps going and makes it this far inland!

Nice moderate snow here in Haywards Heath for now but looks like we are just too far west to really get in on the act tonight. Nice to see snow falling but not quite all I’d hoped for!

Looking at radar this front already looks somewhat ragged in it's state, probably more so then what the models showed on thier 18z suite. Not sure when compared with 00z.
Not t eling too confident now, snow is coming but not very much I suspect.
Last few frames looks like it’s filling in to me? Becoming more organised from 7:00-7:15 southwest of the Lizard Peninsular?

Am I right in thinking that double snow symbols on the Met app is linked to probability of precipitation as much as/instead of intensity? Anything >80% seems to warrant a double snowflake where as 50-80% gives a single snowflake.

Cautiously optimistic here in Haywards Heath - on the border of W/E Sussex, about ten miles inland. Not exactly prime location for snow usually but tomorrow night’s setup looks like it might work for us. Is it looking inevitable that it will turn to rain here later on though?

Another gooner here going to the game tonight. Hoping that Arsenal can do it on a cold, wet Tuesday night in north London
Turns out they could, just about. The snow was the highlight of the game tbh.

A low of -1.1 here last night, lovely crisp, cold, sunny morning. No matter what falls from the sky tomorrow night, at least we have a wintry feel to the weather coming up this week!

I have been there, 18 Dec 2010... just as we got to the station the Mrs phoned me up Arsenal v Stoke postponed it could of been worse we could of been on the train.
I don’t think the game would be cancelled but not keen on being stuck on a train heading south, we all know how well they handle snow
-
I’m meant to be going up to the Emirates to watch Arsenal v Cardiff on Tuesday evening, arriving back in Haywards Heath around midnight. If the snow could all just pile on once I’m back that would be great.

Watching the rain wash the snow away, I’m consoling myself with the fact that I would rate this as the best cold spell since March 2013 for these parts - a decent covering of snow that lasted almost a week, very low temperatures with blue skies during the day and lots of opportunity for snowy walks and pictures. Made extra special by having some time off with my daughter (2 next month) to be able to enjoy it with her!
