Looking the radar animation I think we are starting to see the pivot begin over Ireland. The precip is still moving north east across England but there are hints in the circled area of some slight east south east movement. A good sign because it means everything to the west is eventually heading for us!
I think we’ll see continued north east movement of the precip over England for a good few hours yet, but the pivot point will start to become more obvious:as the evening progresses.
Which radar do you use?

Light rain/ sleet here 2.C ..it was Light snow this morning but nearly all melted, weather warnings all week here for snow 2cm in 4 days hardly requires a weather warning imo.
Think we must be the only places without decent falls. Just our luck!

Which radar do you all use?

Absolutely pathetic here and we’re 430 ft ASL. Looking at the radar, it’s just not going to happen up here, despite amber warnings. Good luck to everyone else though. Nothing like a whiteout to lift the mood

I sense a bit of disappointment from fellow members which is not justified imo. Currently reaching 6cm here, coming down heavily with big flakes but this is not the case. This is "Mediterranean style" snow in March. We need to enjoy it as it is. Most probably you won't see any major depths on roads unless there's some higher intensity later this evening and night. Personally I'd rather have the roads clear.
That said, I'd take this kind of snow 5 times in every winter compared to the dry risk of very cold Easterlies. This ofc has the IMBY bias and I understand everyone down South will be disappointed.
In Harrogate it's snowing non stop since 1pm yesterday. Light and moderate snow yesterday, the heaviest stuff right now.
Blimey, absolutely nothing in Pateley Bridge, apart from the surrounding hills, so you are very lucky in Harrogate!. Can you blow it our way please

Pretty poor up here in Pateley Bridge. Looks like the MO are covering their backs with an amber warning for us. Looks like precipitation heaviest further south, looking at the radar and predictive snow.

The north of yorkshire barring any more corrections south look better placed if we took todays runs as gospel but i wouldnt be surprised with another small correction south on tonights and tomorrow mornings runs. Its 1 day of snow but at least its looking a considerable amount. So should be fun!
Should have made it clear that by the South, I meant London south and not South Yorkshire. Would be nice if we could all get some snow.

If models stay as forecasted by the ECM, Arpege etc you are in a great position. Snow developing early to mid afternoon well into friday morning, early afternoon. 15cms minimum upto 25cm is my guess. Maybe more.
Could really do with some, only had a dusting up here this winter. Fingers crossed the south doesn’t get it all

Yorkshire currently looking extremeley well placed now for a period of significant disruptive snowfall! A slight adjustment south would be even better and keep us in the snow for 24+ hours!
What are the chances for Pateley Bridge, North Yorkshire Scott?

Snowing in Pateley Bridge. Big flakes but not quite 50p size yet!
-
Pretty wild in Pateley Bridge. Any idea how long it's going to continue before moving out to sea?

What time are we looking at for things to start getting more interesting? Can't be long now?
Just had a prolonged heavy shower here and radar looks like more to come.

If that’s the direction it’s moving then it’s heading towards Teesside/North Yorkshire. Sunderland/Newcastle is towards the top end of the region.
Please let that be true...looks like it's heading straight over me. Maybe that's why the BBC forecast has upgraded for us later this evening and overnight?

I was just trying to work out where that might land! I 'm remaining hopeful for now
I've got my snow magnet on full power to suck it further North

Interesting that BBC has upgraded from nothing to heavy snow showers here tonight and tomorrow.
I know it’s the website but I’m desperate and hoping they correct.- 1

Just a dusting here but nothing forecast for the rest of the day. Enjoy the snow everyone and blow a bit up to North York’s please
-
Just watched today’s BBC forecast and it’s looking very dry for all after tomorrow and they mentioned a warm up towards the end of the week. Fingers crossed we get some decent snow cover tomorrow but can’t help feeling disappointed after talk of 30-40cms possible. Just goes to show that the pros know more than we do, as you would expect.

You know what they say...
"avoid the apps to avoid a flap"
"give the radar a go to be in the know"
I know what you are saying but the Met Office forecast was a video forecast not the app. Would be nice to get a covering overnight tonight. I hate cold rain...roll on summer

At last, heavy snow here now and all roads covered. Should get a few inches if it carries on like this until 10am tomorrow
