  1. the general rules are that u cant call snow even 24 hours before the event happens with any great certainty is my understanding. so all i look for is not to completely rule snow out and its still not ruled out! even the met office are showing snow for my area on saturday!!! when that happens i start to get excited as they are very reluctant to put snow on there! i dare not look at metcheck (the wishlist forecast website) as thats showing a snowmageddon for next week which wont happen!

    Completely agree

  2. Looks like the MET have conceded that those lows are going to get through. I expect the 12z run to confirm this.

Correct, but they seem to be remaining confident that on average 'colder conditions will continue' obviously with short periods of milder spells for western areas. But I think we won't get into a run of mild South-Westerlies but more of a North-Westerly wind, which will keep temperatures on the cool side of average.

  3. Met Office latest 1-10 Dec : "Wintry showers are expected to affect some eastern areas on Saturday with snow on hills, possibly to low levels in the north. Elsewhere, largely dry and fine, but cold with the risk of frost, icy patches and overnight freezing fog. By Sunday, rain may spread into the far west, preceded by snow, mainly over higher ground. There is a lot of uncertainty for the remainder of the period but it is likely that northern and eastern areas remain cold with wintry showers for some. Elsewhere, it will probably become milder, at least for a time, but also more unsettled, with rain and hill snow accompanied by stronger winds. Later in the period, colder but drier conditions may become re-established across the UK, with frost and icy patches for many."

  4. I didnt know where the suitable topic to post this but i have agreed here as there's alot following this topic and my question(s):

What in term of snow depth was better December/January 2009/10 or Nov/Dec 2010?

And also does anyone know what the Central Belt (Glasgow Area) received in both years, i have feeling 2010 was better but not 2 sure.

    Thanks.

Think December 2010 was worse overall for the UK for snow, I know in Glasgow the snow depth varied but there was over a foot widely with some places getting a lot more. Don't know any figures but December 2010 was legendary.
