More here in Penarth than we had Friday, still pelting down, good size flakes whipped around by a healthy breeze. met office radar has us down for a good few hours of this yet, fingers crossed...

Apologies I indeed meant 12z18z?Do you mean 12z?Remember the dam isnt that important in the situation we may get (if you are within it then you are guaranteed to get snow on this occasion but not all the time) but because the flow is from the continent the dew points are lower, <0c are what you need for snow, and this is looking likely that most of Wales will have this dew point when the time comes.
Blues are below 0C, with many seeing 0C uppers except for the far SW:

GFS 12z output gives cardiff a 30% chance of snow friday according to netweather forecast - do people think this is about right or too high or too low as it stands now, given other model output?

The Met Office is forecasting 6 celsius and heavy rain for S Wales on saturday (on the desktop widget you can download from their website). This was updated at 19:00 hours today. Can any experienced forecasters explain why their interpretation of the models differs from much of what is suggested in this forum, with many here talking about a snow event on saturday in southern Britain? Many thanks

6 hours of quite heavy snow in Penarth, been settling since 8.30ish, 4-5 cm at least, no sign of easing off as yet
