Worryingly Wet & Worryingly Sunless
Emz by the Thames replied to SunSean's topic in Spring Weather Discussion
As well as the well documented issue of Thames Water and the sewage discharge into he Thames, riverside businesses also have to contend with almost constant Red Boards since autumn due to so much rainfall. Even if it goes yellow, either it's poor weather for it's back onto red within days, so no-one is taking their boats out. A dangerously fast river full of poop.....plus endless grey skies in May = no customers. -
Worryingly Wet & Worryingly Sunless
Emz by the Thames replied to SunSean's topic in Spring Weather Discussion
Fen Wolf I don't usually suffer much from SAD, but this last winter and spring I've never felt so affected by constant overcast weather. It's really zapped my energy levels and made me feel depressed. So if it's affecting people who don't usually suffer much, I can't imagine what these endless dull days are doing for people who do. Hope you feel better soon, fingers crossed for some sun. -
Some fantastic strobe lightning as dawn broke today! It was the first time hearing thunder at night in my new place and woah, the noise hit different. We're on a flood plain now (I know, I know) and its very flat and very dark here where as I'm used to watching storms from an urban valley with lots of motorway noise and light pollution. Definitely scarier here! On a pedantic note, on my old P.C, my Met Office nearest location is still set to my old address in High Wycombe. It lists the nearest location as Wycombe Summit Ski Centre.... which burned down almost 20 years ago! They need to update the listing!

They just mentioned the lovely weather during the 2020 lockdown in the Big Brother house! Clearly still a talking point!

The good weather helped people cope with isolation better I think. Although we lived in a flat, the government kept allotments open and we spent almost every day there. I think our WFH was about 7 weeks and we really did not want to go back to the office because of the lovely weather.

Powercut in the night seemingly. As I'm back in my rental flat in Wycombe for a bit while the bathroom installed in my new place, I woke up at 2am feeling very confused about where I was, the wind was howling though the trees, my touch lamp was going mental and flashing, the alarm clock was going off..and I head a strange crunch outside - my bird feeder, which has been here for years was finally blown over , smashing the baffle. And all this after Henk flooded the Thameside villages. A windy start to 2024 for sure.
