In the last burst of rain in Glasgow it was falling as sleet/snow. The wind is also very strong!

I think Sunday evening through to Tuesday morning could be Scotland's time for a snow event with snow predicted throughout that period. I've transferred this across as the thread shut-down as posted.
I also think we might see some snow on the west coast in and around the Glasgow area. A little bit of now-casting.

What are the chances of seeing a few centimeters of snow in Glasgow? I've had a look and the 6Z run and it seems to have pushed the main snow risk south of Glasgow for the moment, if anyone with more experience than me could answer that it'd be appreciated.

This is the MAX temperatues for the afternoon from wednesday through to friday. (Taken from the 12Z GFS)
Very impressive daytime maxima it has to be said. If this is to be believed then some places may struggle to get above -5c over a 3 day period, with the highlands possibly struggling even more.
Friday would also be very interesting! A big rain band moving in off the Atlanttic but hits the brick wall of cold air entrenched over us giving a very substantial snow event to the western half of Scotland. I think Glasgow would go into meltdown if this came off with almost 24 hours of snow!!
Gets going about 0300 on friday morning...
12 hours later ...
18 hours after it started .....
and 24 hours after it starts ....
Looking at these charts, you can almost draw the line down the country where the 'brick wall' of cold air meets the moisture coming in off the Atlantic. It just doesn't budge at all through-out the period.
Obviously its a loooooong way off yet but could be very interesting indeed for the westerners if it came off. The models have been hinting a snow event of some description for friday recently so it's definitely worth keeping a wee eye on. The only issue being that the models are capable of a total turn around on very short notice at the moment.
I know that's off in FI but if that verify's I'd be very happy .

As TEITS pointed out earlier. All depends where you live. This cold spell might not even happen in large areas of SW and Western UK.
Your quite correct I've learned from what people are saying especially with snow it could run to the line on where and when it will fall. Hence on the charts for later in the week they are most certainly on FI. It could also be the perfect scenario for snow we just don't know.

There are some nice cold temperatures at 850hpa, but with growing uncertainty after monday.
Looking towards monday there is a good chance of snow, but as always there is a chance that this could change, depending on the track of the weather system from the west.
And out on Fantasy Island some beautiful charts .
And finally the precipitation charts.

Hello everyone . I've been following the forums for a couple of years and thought I'd join in . First off I love snow and want lots of it, but aren't the GFS charts on FI at the ranges you're talking about?

Looking at the weather radar I can assure you it's not. There is currently snow falling across Scotland and Northern England.
