Morning all. Just woke up and checked radar to find snow overhead and looked out window and there is flakes falling here and there. It's beginning to settle on cars. AT 1.2c, dew point -2.8c
-
Well this appeared out of nowhere, and will probably disappear as quickly as it appeared, but something to get our hopes up for them to inevitably be dashed!
It will be interesting to see if the other models start picking up on it as well though!
-
End of Tuesday into Wednesday is looking good for snow chances for most of our region on the 12z GFS... maybe one to watch!
-
Passing hail shower going through North Devon at the moment, suns been out all morning here and felt quite pleasant
-
Well that's an upgrade for the Dorset Snow shield of earlier, happy with that!!
Definitely! Even Devon has been upgraded again since 06z, not as good as 00z run though. I have noticed that the NAE has been underplaying the dewpoints for my area, showing -3c but its actually -6c at the moment, so fingers crossed for it to fall as snow
-
Looks like theres the chance of seeing the odd shower tomorrow looking at the latest 12Z NAE
-
i take it it is raining in Devon? Haven't seen any snow reports from there.
Yes its raining here! A.T 4.1c D.P 2.7c

Morning everyone just a quick note on the 00z GFS run, Matt Hugo tweeted:
MattHugo81
Use the 00Z GFS Det model with caution for rain/snow signal for Sun/Mon it is a clear mild outlier against its ensembles, over-doing rain.
Hopefully it may come back on board during the next runs
-
Its all coming out the sky here at the moment keeps switching between rain / sleet / snow and hail! Really gusty winds with it. AT 3.9c, D.P -0.5c, winds WNW 16mph with 44mph gusts!
-

MT @paulkclews: #Ilfracombe college will be closing due to unforseen weather. #DevonWinter

50p size snow falling in barnstaple now
-
Moderate snow falling here in Barnstaple, nothing laying currently or overnight. Surrounding areas did quite well looking at local news and twitter feeds. Current temp 2c, dew point 0.5c with a little easterly breeze.
Edit : Snow is starting to settle
-
Its like watching paint dry.. Temps have now gone to 1c Its moving so slow. IT seems to get to Landkey and go round back up the link road. pluss its just fizzling out as it reaches us due to it moving so slow
kaz
It is! I'm using wundergrounds live radar as well as netweathers seems to have got to south molton now. I reckon we may be lucky this time as there is quite an intense band of ppn in the centre
-
Hubby just said they have got a guy to come in up chip board just to sit there all night and clear any snow.. The way its going he is going to be sat there all night doing nothing..
Dont forget there are traffic lights on the link road so it might get held up
kaz
Lol yeah! It did stall for quite a while but looks like its moving further westwards now, almost at South Molton. There's not as many traffic lights on the link road as there is in Barnstaple, I wonder what it will do IF it gets here!

I was just looking at the radar.. It does seem to be knocking on the door for us, just needs to stop fizzling out when it reaches us which it has done all day
kaz
I'm not going to hold my breath but would be really nice of it did pay us a little visit! Friday was a bit of a let down as nothing settled in town centre. Yeah today hasn't been too good has it, I was in Instow earlier and the windchill was nasty!
-
It seems to be pivoting Anti Clockwise round the low pressure. I'd say West / North West.
Brilliant! I might have to stay up to see if the snow marches into my neck of the woods then! Main band heading up from Exeter hopefully!
-
Anybody reckon North Devon might get some snow fun at lower levels? All I've seen today is rain!
-
Further to my last post, there isn't much on the radars right now so I guess the MetO were referring to the stuff in the English Channel which the French appear to have knicked. Nevertheless, this goes to show the difficulties of attempting snowfall predictions.
I remain confident that something may well pop up again during the next few days at short-term notice.
Now where was I? Ah yes.....................................................
Happy birthday gtltw! Hope you have a great day!
-
Morning all, very light grauple snow falling here. Must be coming off the edge of the bristol channel streamer. Current temp 0.2c, dew point -3.3c, pressure 998.0
-
Pink on the radar over North Devon coast at the mo - any reports?
I'm assuming the radar picks up what is in the air - which is not necessarily what will make it to the ground. Is that correct? Still so much to learn!
Nothing here yet, will let you know if it does!
-
Please excuse me, I am flue'd up and not making sense of anything. Is more snow forecast for us all tonight then?
Happy birthday Mullender X
Funky - Awful times, I hope everything starts to go well for you soon and your gf gets better quickly. X
It does look like some more snow on the cards for some!
-
It has pushed things westward slightly on this run too so may give some of our east cornish / south devon comrades a chance of a dusting too
-
Latest NAE chart is looking good for more snow this evening compared to 6z run
12z run

Anyone radar watching that is interested to see the forecasted trajectory of the PPN, I have found this site quite useful in the past and goes out to 2 hours ahead... http://www.meteoradar.co.uk/home/Rainforecast?z=4&lat=55&lon=-4
