  1. yes can be tricky ,several people have fallen to their deaths I believe ..it's is exciting though ,also crinkle crags are bad in winter ..

In forces we had to do a fair bit of face work and simulated coming under fire etc, leap of faith. I had the grace of a swan coming down.... but the dynamics of a brick going up!

  2. I would rather an Easterly if it were a proper Easterly but I cant see it happening until at least the End Feb Early March so rather have a successful NW erly than a failed E'ly.

I'd take the E's as long as the systems don't come in for the E as the snow shield will eat it all, damn pennine mountain shadow effect!

Ps nice pics James, you're jammier than a jammie dodger with all that snow!

  3. I really dont know how you read those models!!!

    Color = temperature

The dashed line is "the snow line" -5 isotherm (not always needed for snow)

H high pressure and rotates clockwise ie follow the lines round to the right

L low pressure rotates anticlockwise wise follow the lines left and look through what temperature air masses it moves through as both drag air along the iso bars

Tighter the bars the stronger airflow is

Those are extreme basics of the 850 chart

  4. Ah well after last weeks anti-climax il probably be heading away from the boards now, cheesed off again like pretty much every winter in recent living memory.

Certainly nothing significant in the way of snow coming for this region for the rest of the winter.

I only started posting again due to last weeks forecasted snowfest which I drove 250 miles to be apart of, which of course never materialized.

Hope you guys enjoy the rest of what will be a cold but snowless winter, and enjoy sring/summer '15 - can't believe ive been here for over

    12 years now!!

    Terra'....

Fair enough the lack of lying snow has left most of us holding a terd, but it's not as though this winter has been boring is it? We have had all sorts thrown at us. Personally I'd have hitch hiked extra mileage to head oldham, Glossop or even buxton! If having snow is this big for you fella you need to move house with a higher elevation! I've enjoyed seeing people on here win the snow lottery, most of us missed out true but we were able to see something even if it melted a few mins after it fell lol. To say that's it for the rest of winter is a little premature though bam

  5. Deffo a night for those extra sheets. I'm not ashamed to say when it's this cold I wear PJ's!

When our seargent was beasting us for doing something wrong, especially for not wearing an item of clothing when we should have such as water proofs etc (they make a lot of noise when moving etc) he would always shout "any fool can get wet" or scream "any fool can be cold" so shame doesn't even come into it my son! In my retarded case I fell asleep in shorts with window open cos it was too warm with heating, even my but cheeks were chattering with cold!
  6. you see , more snow :p you did much better than i did.

I feel for ya fella, its broke our drought anyway if its stays around a bit, but the way things are going though and the way it feels, this could just be a taste of things to come. I do think we will all cop for it at some point especially with what the models are out putting (I do need to catch up on model watching).

Thy cup shall overfloweth with white gold my son

  7. I know it probably won't last but it's nice to see the white stuff come down, the temps are all over the place as evident by constant switching rain, sleet grauple and snow.

Put in a good word for us HC and give me another sight of the white goodness

  8. I was just about to post saying it feels much colder now than it did this morning, does this bode well for anything that might fall later, colder ground and air?? I hope so cos everything that came down before disappeared as soon as it stopped!

It was great being in it as it came down though and considering the ground was soaked we did well to get it to accumulate, so it goes to show... It ain't over till the fat demon truffle shuffles!

  9. The school run was fun.. woke up all sulky with no snow, got the dog and little princess ready for school and set out. Then *pooof* pup starts going mental at the flakes falling, I was a walking snowman as I ended up shielding daughter and dog as the wind picked up... It was great!!!

Sky starting to lighten now and so is de snow

  10. Hi Gary,

Yes, that was a bit crazy. I am in Piccadilly and it didn't half blow a gale (40mph) with heavy rain.

Rattling through salford as well (nice 1 for data gaz) I stepped out of the door and it sent the poor dog sideways!

Whatever happens it will be an interesting couple of days
