Gone extremely dark, but the rain isn't that heavy.

Seems development of showers over Winsford, was hoping they would be electrified.

Stunning day, not a cloud in the sky. Great view of the planes as well. Humidty is perfect too. Not many days like this falling on a weekend.

So annoying how organised the storms are now, yet south Cheshire got nothing earlier. It's like they were organised across Wales in a big zone and fizzled and reignited further north east

Looks like the bog standard rain is approaching here with the cells either side. Always the way.

First summery feeling day. That sticky sort of cloudy humid day. Most welcome though and despite not being wall to wall sunshine has attracted plenty of people to be walking about.

Certainly a wild day, I wonder why this wasn't a named storm? There has been a lot of fallen trees and general debris around. It's the longevity of the winds really.

Had some snow falling earlier, really vicious winds today. Strongest all winter I think in terms of the consistent nature.

iand61 I managed to cut the front and strim the jungle out back in the dry spell today. Dreading the full cut out back, grass is so long but underneath is boggy as anything.

I really need to cut my lawn but looks like no window of opportunity this week, the grass and soil is just saturated but given the mild winter it is in dire need of cutting.

Some snow in the mix now, what a rotten day.

Plain old rain. Even in Stoke it is raining. This really is a Peaks event only. People spend hours model watching in the thread bigging these events up and look at outcome yet again.

Interesting to see the warning zone shift south again, not that I think the description that accompanies it increases confidence in snow in low lying parts. I think it's just a cover your back warning. I guess cold rain is in order with sleet. Then again do i want a big dump if temps are due to be 10c on Friday, probably not.

I'm not getting interested in Thursdays snow as it will likely be a cold rain or snow to rain event for this low level.

Winds potent but rain weak. Looks potent up north

Some mental gusts then, lots of crashing around.

More pace to the winds as mentioned here. Enough to blow me along in the open parts of our estate.

Cheshire is well sheltered from a SW’ly. A NW’ly is a different kettle of fish! We cop those.
Yeah it really isn't amber worthy for this part. We had worse around Christmas. Not even any bins on the street have moved!

Too much plane chatter in both local and this thread. I love watching the planes land and the impacts but let's face it, planes will be diverted all the way through this evening.

Winds are lighter here now than earlier today. Rain has eased a bit too. Windy shows it gusting to 50mph but I can't see that being right. A friend down in Stafford says it's very bad so maybe we are sheltered.

Funny how the rain never struggles to find us here in the NW a much milder drizzly start - its a real shame the cold weather couldn’t have held on for the weekend as it is doing in the States
They next week also are seeing a big warm up though from the big freeze they have been in this past week going against the myth that the UK & USA/ Canada can’t be cold at the same time, Washington DC seeing freezing -3c highs today, 16c/ 17c by the middle of next week.
To be fair it's rare we both have cold and warm at same time especially both being warmer as the deep cold they get usually fires the jet stream up.

Great to see the region doing well. I was happy seeing a 1cm in Nantwich this morning. That puts us at three days of falling snow this Winter which ain't bad for low land.

Snow falling for a second night again. Would love a surprise covering for the morning

Radar shows a touch of snow should have fallen but doesn't look like it outside.
And now it is snowing

I retract that, ran is now heavy. Such a shame it's just rain as it built overhead. Why do storms never do that!
