I thought the different countries still used the same list

Only the second time we've got to the letter I, and it's only January.

That's exactly how I feel. Deep cold is not only dangerous because of ice on roads and pavements, but it's bad for the health too. People may like it, but it ain't good for them...
I imagine some people who claim to like it, never go out in it. Otherwise, why would they be excited about next week possibly having days where it's less than 4c, when it's actually already like that this week?

That's a big red warning area.

Yeah this'll be an '87 event for the channel islands. For the rest of us down south, closer to a normal storm but still, not something we see every year if I'm correct. Not this early.
Is the track of this pretty much certain now? Is there no chance at all that it all ends up 100 miles north of current prediction?

Really should be warnings out for central, southern and eastern England for Friday IMO. Really quite a nasty rain event possible, soils will be saturated over the next couple of days.
We did have a warning, but I think it was cancelled.

Middleton in Co. Cork in a bad way to say the least. This was an orange warning area. Lots of Cork area flooded
I know Midleton well. Never seen such widespread flooding there before. Usually just the rd beside the river. .

Simply stunning here today. 22.6°C currently.
After today/tomorrow, I wonder when we'll see temps like that again.

We went to Windsor for the day yesterday. It was beautiful sunshine pretty much the whole time we were there. Perfect sort of temperature for me too.

I'm well into my 60s, and pretty sure I've not worn shorts since I was about 6.

Met Office will tweet out end of today warmest place, but looking at stations on weatherobs.com a few got above 29.5C, maybe 1 or 2 reached 30C but not fully sure.
Was puzzled why they'd not put out a tweet about it, Heathrow or St James Park etc. I'm sure it must have made 30c somewhere.

A guess the max temperature competition would be interesting to do.
If i was to enter, I'd go for 32.6C on Thursday in Wisley, Surrey.
What was the max reached today in the UK?

There seems to be a lack of moths this year. Not seen any at night as normally come in through the window attracted to the light. Wonder if they've all died due to the cooler weather?
Maybe it's the cooler weather meaning not so many open windows

Much fresher air this morning, accompanied with warm sunny spells and a light breeze. What’s not to like?!
Isn't the humidity supposed to be back tomorrow? We had one day without it

At 1pm, it was 26C at Manchester Airport. Currently 16C and heavy rain. Crazy how the weather swings in this country.
I might drive up there!

Going by the forecast a couple of days ago, I had thought it would be a warm sunny weekend. Now it appears we'll have zero sun all day today
Another Storm for Tuesday

matty40s thanks. So, presuming they start with A, they've named more than us and Ireland have named? If we name one, do the french use that name, or come up with their own?
