With my limted understanding, I thought the hypothesis, with regard for the potential of damaging winds from "Doris" was if the cyclogenesis bombed out over the UK and at this stage, isn't this is still highly speculative. Would I be correct. If the bombs out in the north sea, the winds will be nowhere near ,what is forcast. Are we over egging the pudding or is the probablility rising that this is now highly likely.

Having followed this thread from a far and with limited knowledge, my understanding was the second low was the low carrying all the fronts with rain on and this was going to be the issue, to the north of the country, adding to the already saturated ground in those areas.

Would I be correct in thinking that the secondary low is more of an issue, than storm Frank itself.

Earlier in the week, there was a mention of a potential storm on Friday/Saturday. Has this threat now passed or is this still a goer.

With no warnings issued to the Eastern half of the country. Does this mean that this storm with skirt around the top of Scotland. With the eastern side of the country & south-east becoming largely unaffected by the damaging gusts.

As a new member and having followed the discussion with regard to the "St Jude storm" . Will this potential storm, not have the same impact as the Monday's storm because it doesn't seem to be interacting with the jet stream?

Good afternoon one and all. As I'm a bit of a novice at this, could someone just give me the heads up on the mechainics of wind production. Is it how deep an incoming low pressure is or is it the tightness of the isobars around the low? I have been looking a the GFS and some low pressure systems seem to have a higher pressure core but are of a tighter pack around them, giving the impression of a great volcity of wind surrounding them.

Is this storm likely to disrupt flights in the London area or is it tracking in a more N.Easterly direction reducing the effect on the eastern side of the country. I only ask, as it's half term and we have an early flight Saturday morning from Stanstead.
