I'm really surprised that there have been no warnings for the wind in the northwest for today from the met office
why though? its windy yes, but its hardly an issue lets be honest

That's mad they should have been notified of this weather surely
yes they are well aware in advance.Pilots decision unless the airport is closed,all perfectly safe, will have another attempt or two before diverting if it cant land

just got back to liverpool after driving home from near blackburn,Quite tasty on the motorways so take care.Definately more windy than when i set off.

calmish here now, wind nowhere as bad as before and blue skies...Deffo the calm before the storm,setting off home in about 30 minutes

I went on lpool to belfast sailing in storm force 11 once. It was the worst journey and it was my birthday too and i spent the whole time throwing up. Never again !!!
yeah mate, I worked on the seacat, wasnt good for roll in bad weather at the best of times but in storm force winds it was horrendous.Lost two engines sailing over in the foul weather.I vowed never to work on it again after that.The whole boat was destroyed inside,fridges in the bar fell down.All duty free stock was destroyed,thousands of pounds worth of vodka etc.It was a horrific journey
A ship off coast of Cork has recorded winds of 110 mph !!!!! They must be mad being out in that !!

not surprised.Be some crossing that! I remember back in the late 90s i worked on Liverpool to dublin ferries.A night crossing that should have taken 4hrs took over 11!!!! it was awful.I left 3 weeks after that

Rain almost horizontal in wind , dog refusing to go on walk , looking at me as if I'm stupid !!!....
hahaha you know its bad when the dog wont go for a walk! Mine refuses to go out in the rain too.I love it,looks up at me as if to say "you having a laugh, have you looked out there"
Weather man on BBC just said heavy snow later for US!
