  1. Eerily quiet here at the minute, not a breath of wind. Local forecasts last night just said its going to be a windy day, they havnt made people aware in my humble opinion of the potential. Whatever is coming later for my area I am going to get the full impact of. I hope everyone stays safe across the country today...

  2. Intense area of precip currently Loughborough N Leicester way..pointing towards Notts area. Within the main squall line. Anyone report?

I can confirm that in north Leics we had spells of heavy rain and gusts through the evening with a period of torrential rain lasting around 20 minutes sometime between midnight and 1am (was trying to sleep through it so had the duvet over my head and didnt check the exact time). Guttering couldnt cope with the rain and i could hear it overflowing. Major amount of noise from wind and rain. Kids have informed me that they heard thunder.. I'm sorry I am unable to offer anything other than a subjective report and nothing technical.

  3. It was either a quiet night from 2am or the brandy helped me sleep through it, woken at 7.30am with an unexpected gust, 30 minutes of moderate gusts followed, now down to a blustery bright morning.

we have been very lucky (despite my dread and mild panic last night) and have not been hit badly by this storm like many areas.

Thank you to all who post on here, without this I would not have been so informed about this storm prior to yesterday, if I had just watched the tv weather forecast I would not have known what was going to hit the UK.

    hope everyone stays safe today

  4. It has been an memorable night here, depending on how you look at it?

It has been many years since I've seen weather like this here! Lots of damage, water damage to the house I'm in unfortunately. Stay safe folks.

  5. Welcome to Net-Weather Reindeer. It sure if powerful & wet out there !

Keep an eye on the huge Squall Line Britstol - Derby, it's got a small LEWP type going on there, and for those that don't know, a LEWP can often spawn a Tornado.. Something we don't want !

It seems they are popping up a little more often now too.

thank you for the welcome. porch roof now got tiles rattling. metal patio table being moved around by the wind despite me flipping it over earlier so the wind couldn't get under it

  6. Hi all.

First post from a new member here. I have been following the recent storm reports on here and despite having no clue what some of the terminology means, I think I am just about keeping up with it...

I am struggling to find much info about what to expect in Leicestershire tonight, I have looked on xcweather at the average expected gust speeds but I swear the wind is stronger tonight than this afternoon when the predicted gusts on xcweather showed it the other way round, showing expected gusts tonight of 56mph, particularly as it showed high winds all the way through the day however from 5pm-9pm it was really quite calm.

The house is in a slightly elevated position and exposed on 3 sides to the elements. currently I am getting the full force of the winds which seem to be increasing steadily with gusts that shake the house occasionally. If this really is 56mph then I'm a total wuss as it's making me nervous, if I was in an area worse hit, I would need clean pants... Not sure if there is worse to come tonight?

sorry for the long first post...and for not being able to add much except its flippin windy with horizontal rain. And I don't like it ..
