The GFS may have the wind speed correct but maybe not the track? If it takes the track the MO are backing, you can understand the concern.
and if it takes the track GFS 12z is suggesting, there will be frogs scattered all over eastern Europe!

Hiding in a cupboard with a bottle of baileys and a torch!
I will be climbing up my garden tree in my underpants with a bottle of red wine shouting at the storm "come on storm is this the best you've got, you cannot defeat me" funny mental image anyway!

One thing I notice in these sorts of weather situations is that they often underestimate the strongest gusts. Quite a few times over the years, I heard forecasters warning of gusts up to 80mph only to find on a news report afterwards that 93mph was recorded somewhere (for example).

I'm down in pembrokeshire sw Wales at the moment. Just had a light snow flurry, and there are icicles on the cliffs. That is rare even in January, let alone end of march!!

I'm hoping we get some mild weather soon. Nothing enjoyable about seeing sheep and other live stock buried alive in snow, as seen on the news. Snow is fun, but not at the risk of life whether human or animal IMO

Unfortunately heads will not roll, because these headlines make money, and the general public have short memories! Otherwise a well known newspaper would be out of business.
