It's a bit of a let-down that the cam images have been blocked. It would be nice if they could upload an image, say every 10 mins to a server that's got more bandwidth. So we could continue to get a glimpse of what's going on.

The steam vents at Kverkfjoll have been quieter for several hours, but I notice that the ice has thawed on a third of the lake now.

On the 2 mila cams (1 static and 1 moving) Those 2 streams seem to have very much more water in them than they did yesterday.

That is dust? Maybe, but it seems very localised and is rising quite high in almost nil wind conditions

On the Bardarbunga2 cam (The cam that moves) You can maximize this image and it gives quite good quality. Halfway across each pan, it stops and a caption 'Preset 1' appears at the bottom right of the image. If you look in the centre of the image at this point, there seems to be quite a bit of steam coming out of the ground over quite a wide area.

What concerns me is that Kverkjoll is 30 km from Bardarbunga and there hasn't been any volcanic activity there for 9 days. The area being affected by this event is massive.

3 magnitude 5's overnight and the Kverkjohl cam has multiple jets of steam coming out of the rocks now.

Yesterday, Allseasons-SI posted a couple of photos from the Kverkfjoll cam, mentioning the loss of snow.

 

Today, the bottom left of the current Kverkfjoll cam image shows a significant region of exposed rock that was completely snow covered yesterday.

Now i'm not sure if this is some orographic cloud sat on top of the glacier..... but at the moment it looks like a section of ice has collapsed away in the upper section of the cam. I can now see what looks like an ice cliff across the whole width of the cam that wasn't there yesterday. But like I say, it's dificult to see if it's just some cloud sat on top of the glacier. There is definitely a reduced amount of snow on the slope underneath though.

 

Edit: After 30 mins of watching the cam, I think my snow cliff has moved slightly. So i'm thinking it may be cloud  So disregard the second part of the above post,

At times of reduced activity in the fissure, most of the newer events are occurring clustered to left, back from the leading edge of the fissure. When the activity picks up again, the newer events are clustered to the right again as the fissure pushes forward.

I've been watching this for a few days and I've noticed that decreased activity in the fissure often occurs around the same time as a large event at the main crater.
