  1. Oh I'm just fed up with it doing nothing. It's not been sunny here just dull. No rise or fall in temperature. As such. Stuck between -3. To 1.5. I'm happy that a lot of people are getting snow. But it really isn't doing anything and hasn't since last week. And I checked it out it really is ground hog day. Ha ha.

  2. On the other hand we could have mild SW rain and temps of

    8-10c as a coldie I know which I perfer

    C.S

Oh don't that would be truley awful. Just need some more snow and wind. Or anything except rain to just shifty along. It's just stuck at the moment. It's like ground hog day here.

  3. Oh this weather is soooo boring here at the moment. Absolutely nothing happening. Yes we have lying crunchy snow. Ice and scrape your car on a morning. It's not really cold - 4. That's it.. it's like the weather needs a good kick up the a##e. Try opening your fridge door and standing there for 5 mins. Yep that's here. Come on weather do something.. grrrrr..

  4. We've got ghost winds.. you know the the type that go woooooooo on the horror films. 1 child with a vivid imagination can't sleep. It's forecast snow here but can't see it myself. If it does won't be much... shame enjoyed the will we able to get out or not drama.

  5. Skip last post not warm anymore unless sheltered behind a wall. Wrapped in 5 layers of woolies. It's gone bitter with strong gusts. Still got the winter Sun though. Will be wearing all my thermal gear to walk the dogs and do the horses. Brrrr.. and regards to some weather forecasts. If it says a warning for snow from say 9am -9pm I don't expect snow for the whole time just that it could snow in that time be warned. I would still check all the other forecast sites and read between the lines as to what could happen.

  6. Had good covering of snow last night. Mostly on high ground. Dusting on cars in our village. Topped up whats left from tues/wed. Winds are picking up a little but mostly mild and sunny. Not expecting anything now even though we have warnings for snow/sleet.

  7. Wont make it this far will it? Id be interested if I lived in Cumbria though.

i cant remember seeing a band of ppn appearing out of nowhere like that?

Just got in. Read this and spotted cumbria. Why what are we expecting? It's still crispy snow here. Lying snow on the fields but normal roads all norm.had some melt at about 12-2pm but then cold, bitter wind. Now seems mild.
  8. attachicon.gifimage.jpgattachicon.gifimage.jpgattachicon.gifimage.jpgthe flakes were huge. Once it came therebwas no stopping it. Git about three inches. Wass brill night but will be gone todayFreezing fog too after the snow

Nice pics. Best get out in it quick if you think it's melting. Think some more is forecast over the next couple of days but not sure where? You may be in luck again. We've got plenty of lying snow but it's schools as norm ect. So back to the grind here I'm still giddy about more snow but the hubby and kids are like. Oh bloody snow is still here then.

  9. Sounds like some people had some fantastic weather last night. Huge amounts of snow ect. But it's very quiet on here this morning have you all lost ways of communication. Or so tired your all sleeping. We've had nothing just that the snow is frozen/Icey.

  10. 4X4's are ok in the snow, they can "usually" get moving quicker, unless all 4 wheels are bogged down but they don't stop or go round corners any better, a 2WD car with decent snow tyres is better than a 4X4 on summer ones!

I've got 2wd car with snow tyres and my hubby has a 4x4. I think it's the hills round here that make my car so rubbish in snow. The same hill and conditions and the 4x4 would get up where as I would be stuck at the bottom. But my rant was snow is great but makes for hazardous driving on the fells and back roads.some cars just aren't equipped to tackle them. Including mine. Lucky I bagged the 4x4 yesterday and today but still havent made a journey out yet as schools closed and roads are extremely dicey in places.

  11. Its taken me two hours to get from Bacup to Bury, no grit anywhere, sheet ice all through Edenfield and Shuttleworth, buses skidded across the roads, lorries can't get up hills so just stop, cars just wheel spinning.

Luckily having 4x4 helped me but doesn't magic away the other vehicles!!!

Yes amazing 4x4s aren't they? Unless you get stuck behind someone trying to get about in a totally unsuitable car. Thick snow/ice and a hatchback on the fell road where it's treacherous. Please stay at home or go the main routes if your car can't

    handle it!! Sorry rant over.

  12. How much snow do you have?

More showers lining up on radar so could be a good day.

Are you out of Appleby near the Fells?

    Andy

Yeah were in a little village.at the bottom of Orton scar. Always out are up unless you head towards appleby but that has ice/lying water problems and in the wrong direction for anything. I keep trying to upload pics but it just won't do it off my kindle. It's hard to say about how much as it looks more because of wind banking it up behind wall backs ect.

  13. Have around 2in of snow here, showers really packing a punch with the wind. Roads are a bit dicey, past one car in the lake and stopped at a police road block while they recovered a bus from the hedge. Only just got back up the hill home and that's with winter tyres on!

Glad your ok roads are bad in places. No gritters about..
