  1. Would just like to point out that many places in the east midlands and central southern England saw snow a day before his prediction, and then on the day of his prediction the south east saw snow, thats more than a few isolated places IMO.

Nothing at all in Lincoln Hardly, ... bit of light stuff yesterday, other than that, ... zilch

  2. The new maps are good, to an extent ( the moving graphics bit ) but!!.... I think the map is way to big for the screen for starters, the people in the SE always get covered by any kind of warning. Ok if your in Scotland, but these warnings don't dissapear for ages, and its virually impossible to see through them, especially if it's one of those 30 second forecasts on N24 lol

The maps also fail to have any citys on the Eastern side of England either!, its like no towns or anything are in that part of the map! So we have no idea of Temps.

Also, my regional forecasts, seem to be missing a graphic only the main BBC forecast have, .... dense fog! :(

Maybe they can't afford that add-on lol. Bit dissapointing though when fog is no different to cloud

Another concern is how do we know what the intensity of the snow falling means?, I really can't see much of a difference. Bring back the 1, 2, 3 snow symbols!, light, moderate, heavy.... there easy to read. :)

My favourite forecasters though have to be in Order : Dan, Helen and Matt.... I always smile when I see them come on, they always give a good, full forecast :)

  3. Good to see alot of Eastern Europe with snow cover now, and I'd expect to see cover extend a little further West over Germany with this arctic plunge. Seems to be a marked snowless chunk out of W'ern Russia though around Moscow - where it seems WAA from SE Europe/NW Asia has kept things above average there - it looks to stay that way it seems with the trough over W'ern/Central Europe continuing to pump mild air North into that area:

Took me ages to find us on that map Nick  ( I don't do Maps, just ask my Husband )

  4. I expect a category 5 within 48 hours however i do think it will weaken as it undergoes a eyewall replacement cycle before strengthening again before landfall, the warmest sea surface temperatures are all in the western Gulf Of Mexico, which is why i can not see it weakening much before landfall.

I do hope your wrong SB. I was visiting family in Corpus Christi and Houston a month back and they counted their blessings for not feeling the wrath of Katrina. Even then with the storm so far away, it brought 15ft storm surge to the beaches. I shudder to think if Rita heads for them, and becomes a cat5. Its all flat land.

  5. Err Im having a de-ja-vu here.

Snowed last night heavily in North Lincoln. 6cm deep on FLAT ground (to make a point to the picky ones on these boards). Alot of schools closed in the Lincs FM region, including my sons.

Snowed lightly on and off in the morning, but the clouds came dark about 1ish and it snowed heavily for about 20 mins. Stopped now, and the sun is out again. :(

Regional forecast is: WORSE TO COME!! woohoo

    Temp: 1c (Wind Chill -5c) - Wind: NE at 29 km/h

  6. It's been snowing on and off in Lincoln all day, although the sun has been thawing most of it, but the snow still lays! ( thank god for a good covering last night )

Heavy shower right now, darkest the clouds have been all day. Sky is totally dark grey everywhere. I hope it lasts :)

Temp been hovering around 0-1c until now. It has just gone up to 2c.

Edit: Winds are NE at around 16km/h
