Wow! Feeling jealous of Germany right now..
-
Any more thunderstorm risk left in the next 24 hours for Norfolk?
-
There seems to be alot less thundery showers now.. Most of them drifting into the North Sea.. some of those storms would have been alot more appreciated over Norfolk!
-
Back on http://www.lightningmaps.org/realtime yay, also,my other half is picking up the youngen.
hahah, most likely they will get a bit of a soaking then! Much rather like I did in our storm earlier..
-
Rain started and stopped very suddenly.. Not much rain at all.
-
Sudden big rain cloud over Hunstanton... radar isn't showing anything though..

If your quick it should hold off just long enough.. thats if it doesn't veer to your North.

There are some problems with uploading profile pictures at the moment unfortunately.
ah ok
-
Don't let Jeremy Clarkeson know about it, eh?
Quick question, i have tried to add a profile picture but its not showing up.. have you any ideas why?

I've looked online "in US and Europe, a threshold in lag time of approximately 6 hours is often employed to distinguish a flash flood from a slow-rising flood" I never knew that you learn something new everyday.
Wow! I really would have thought that the time would be shorter.. more like 2-3 hours!

I don't think so flash flooding happens quickly. If the ground is saturated or baked hard rain water can not infiltrate thus you get surface run off.
agreed.. but could the water build up from over time count as flash flooding... or would it still just be flooding?
-
That's not strictly true, Nick: 75mm of rain, in 12 hours (if the ground is already saturated) will cause flash-flooding. I think?
Would it count as 'Flash-Flooding' if the flooding occurs over a longer period of time though?

Some heavy rain battering Northern Ireland.. One lightning strike showing on the radar inbetween London-Derry and Belfast
-
Yup. This is what flooded my local co-op out for the third time in a year..
woah thats alot of rainfall! I remember this time last year getting flooded into a bus shelter on a hill.. Not fun!
-
4.3mm would sound much more reasonable. We got 3mm from our section of the line.
4mm would be generous, i also know that 43mm is crazily unlikely.. but I personally think it was a bit more then 4mm!
Currently trying to see if there are any stations locally other then the Heacham one so I can see what it really was..
-
No worries...I once put a rain-gauge under my shed's guttering!
hahah, going to make sure i put it in a better place for next time the rains back!
Wish i was further north! Looks like some places are up for 2 thunderstroms in a row!
-
Depends where it's sited...see above.
ah yes i see I feel a bit dumb believing it now!

-
Indeed, Nick - 4.3mm wouldn't be bad, for that space of time?
Any chance that the cheap rain gauge was collecting water from a larger area then i should have been?
