Thank You, Next...

Moderate snow in Rochester now, a covering on the cars and road almost covered too now in just ten minutes or so! Not bad!
-
We have lift off! Light snow just started in Rochester

Anyone know why London & SE is listed as Amber on the warnings page but still yellow on the map??
-
I really hope it doesn't turn to rain later on as METO are suggesting for my area. To see what could be up to 5cm build up to then start to get washed away before morning would be devastating

We've got about 1cm so far and still snowing heavy - under the dark patch on the radar in Rochester!

Heavy snow, settling on cars instantly, this is amazing!

Turning to snow now in Rochester, really is fascinating to watch it transition

Wet flake just dripped down from lampost

So it's still mostly rain in Rochester but it's not even heavy, we can't even get the rain right

Update from Rochester: It's still sleeting though a little sleetier than 5 minutes ago, but still only sleeting with the odd sleety flake mixed in with the sleetiness... and I kinda feel like I've made Sleety seem like a weird word now through overuse...

Turning a little sleety here now in Rochester, but still mostly rain at the moment. Think the transition is beginning though!

Oh blimey the netweather radar is turning less and less pink and more and more blue each update and it was all going so well...

Managed to dodge the showers moving up from the South Coast for the most part apart from a brief drizzly spell so ground isn't that wet at all...plus the front seems to be moving nice and slowly so dare I say it...looking good so far.

My Met0 app just updated now showing snow til 4am (was midnight before) & that ties in with their graphics just now on live forecast which seemed to show it slowing down a bit over us? It was gone by about 1 thoughmind on those graphics...
-
The feature's moving quite quickly according to Met Office guys live on Twitter just now, but they were keen to point out cold air is also tucking in quite quickly behind & graphics seemed to show it slowing down a bit as it turned to snow for us from like 7 ish to around midnight 1 ish. Looked quite promising so fingers crossed!!

Really hoping we get something decent tonight and over the next few days. Fingers crossed for everyone .
My little boy would love the surprise of snow in the morning.
The met are getting more confident of the very much colder weather I see from there website... Hope it doesn't change .
UK Outlook for Tuesday 12 Feb 2019 to Tuesday 26 Feb 2019:
Cold or very cold conditions are likely to dominate the weather throughout this period, with a greater than average chance of easterly or northeasterly winds dominating. This would bring an enhanced risk of snow, as well as widespread and occasionally severe frosts, although the exact details remain very uncertain. In this setup, the driest and brightest weather is likely in the north and northwest. Despite the prevalence of cold weather, occasional milder interludes remain possible, most likely in the south, but this poses the risk of significant snow should very cold conditions become established.
Wow that's a pretty good update!Fingers crossed. Back to the here and now I'm excited to see how tonight unfolds. Good luck guys!!!

Does the positioning of this front determine the temperatures going into the weekend and next week? I ask because on the METO forecast for my area had this evening as dry earlier and most of tomorrow too (and then just a few hours of snow tomorrow evening) with temps on Sat on 4c and then Sun 7C, Mon 7C; but then it changed to snow all evening and for most of the night & spells tomorrow too and the temperatures changed drastically - Sat at just 1c Sun at 2c& Mon at 3c! Now the snow has gone again for this evening & temps back up to 4c on Sat & 7C for Sun & Mon! Never known it to veer so widly!

I must admit I've never been more confused about what's happening with a weather event than I have with this low from France or wherever today/tomorrow. Warnings are all over the shop - there, gone, back etc different sites showing different things, models etc...like what is happening???

Snowing lightly here after a heavier burst earlier, topping up the snow level nicely Has the front been following the Hilram prediction?

Is Hilram's forecast for about now the closest to the actual situation right now, just out of interest?

Certainly going to be an interesting 6-9hrs to come both in terms of convection and the frontal shield.
18z Hirlam is marginally less snowy over far SE but still gives widespread 10-15cms for all but Kent where totals ate more modest.
Hilram is predicting 10-15cm from that low tomorrow morning for Kent???
