Similar scenes here in SW Sheffield - not measured but it's the most I have seen since at least 2010. Side roads impassable and car is under what looks like a foot of snow.

Persistent light-to-moderate snow for the last 3+ hours here in SW Sheffield - topping up what was present from yesterday and overnight. Roads/pavements covered (and enough now to make it difficult for cars to go up hills).

Spoke too soon - schools have just announced they are closing.

Updated Meto warning, high ground Yorkshire inland the place to be.
"At low levels including major cities such as Manchester, Liverpool and Newcastle accumulations are expected to be limited with a small chance of 2-5 cm falling. However, significant snow accumulations are possible over hills of northern England (including populated areas of South and West Yorkshire), Northern Ireland and southern Scotland. Here, 10-15 cm is expected quite widely above 100 metres, with a chance that 25-40 cm could fall in some places . Additionally, there is potential for strong winds, which may lead to blizzard conditions and drifting of lying snow. Ice is likely to develop widely on Friday night as this system clears away."
Fingers crossed - I've been concerned at some of the changes recently but hopefully this one comes true!

Parts of Sheffield have awesome snow cover- here are pics from Crosspool. Approx 8 cm
Woah. Greystones has nothing like that, and it’s just the other hill across (In fact I can see some of crosspool from my sofa!).

Been and gone here (SW Sheffield 200asl). Got a covering, but back to sleet and mostly slush/melted. Looks like we are in a bit of a gap at the mo, but doubt anything else will stick.
Looked nice though

Powdery snow drizzle here in SW Sheffield too. Still going but been like this for a few hours now.
edit: car tracks are compressed snow, so doesn’t look to slushy.

Looks like it’s starting to transition to light snow - settling a bit.
