SO  ITS 5 WEEKS UNTIL I FLY OUT FOR TOUR 2 & 3!

Who else do we have landing on May 17th?

I'm flying out on the 14th,driving round KS for a bit and then arriving in Denver on the morning of 18th. I should be at the Days Inn before 11am so in good time to meet the group!

Kansas is further away than you think from Denver! great road to drive on though especially if you get a bonus storm chase in!

As I've found out! I'll be heading out to about Hays, KS if I follow the route map I've planned and then driving back on the I70 on Sunday afternoon ready for the Monday start / changeover day.

    Hi all,

I am not sure if everyone on tour 5 got a copy of the PDF file I put together, so please find a copy attached to this post.

Looking forward to seeing you all out in Dever in a few weeks time!

Any questions about the photography tour, please just get in touch.

    Cheers

    John

Re batteries in checked baggage, see this link:

    https://www.caa.co.uk/Passengers/Before-you-fly/Baggage/Items-that-are-allowed-in-baggage/

They won't allow Li-ion batteries in checked bags because of the fire risk - should be carried in your hand luggage. I've not had any issues in taking numerous batteries in hand luggage. I think I had 9 or 10 (inc my laptop battery) in my hand luggage from my T2 trip and was didn't face any issues.

Getting into the semi reliable for the start of Tour 1 now being only 6 days away.

Looks like there could be some overnight storms on Saturday and Sunday but the first chances of proper chasing look to be Monday 6th May

Thereafter am seeing a very favourable pattern for chasing numerous days on Tour 1 with plentiful moisture and decent upper support at 500mb with SW Flow at times, chase areas still up in the air but will become easier to nail down as we get to next weekend.

All in all very happy with the outlook for an active May

Hope it hold into tour 2 ;)

Don’t make it to early if you haven’t booked it yet. As it can impact the final chase day. Going for a late afternoon or evening flight back is recommended normally

Yep, I'm thinking of a 5pm or 7.30ish flight back

Hi Dan the 26th will NOT be a chase day, thats the day we have to get rid of 2 of the cars back to car rentals and start our journey upto Denver for the start of Tour 3 which kicks off on the 28th May

Good to know, it means a slightly earlier return flight won't bugger things up!

Booked a room there, spare second queen bed if anyone wants to split a room for that night. Would be approx £41.

Yeah, I'd be up for that if OK? I'll be getting in on Monday mid afternoon I expect once I drop the car off at the airport.
