Raining steadily in Belfast now. No sign of any thunder. Not going to hold my breath either.

Could we dare to hope here in Belfast? Think the storms are moving North Westerly but not sure, can anyone clarify for me? Cheers BB

I flew from Belfast to Newcastle yesterday evening and thankfully the only problem I experienced a delay of one hour. The flight was quite amazing....looking out the windows the clouds were sparkling like they were filled with diamonds. By the time I got to Newcastle the snow had turned to rain so travelling to Carlisle was quite strightforward. Thank you to all those who gave me information which made the decision to go alot less scarey. <_<

I have to travel from Belfast to Newcastle then to Carlisle tonight....not looking good atm. I would really appreciate it if anyone could let me know what they think. Should I just forget about it? Worried that I will get to Newcastle and then get stuck at the airport.

Had sleet and Snow in Belfast at 06:00 until about 06:45 - Left about 1mm of covering in Dundonald.

Its great of Stuart to keep this thread very up to date. If you dont like the forecasts, Tough and dont bother looking at them because of course its so much of a problem.

After 24 hours of very heavy rain I can happily report a thunder storm over east Belfast. Not raining as yet but have had three very loud deep rumbles no visible lightning.

Not much on the radar, maybe stay up for another hour or two.
I don't know whether it is a good thing or not but I am working til 0800 - and I say working in the loosest sense of the word!
I would say even if that snow does reach here it may well fall as rain in the city center. Thats what normally happens. -

Just spoke to my mum who is on the North Antrim Coast and she is reporting Snow there atm.

Temp in Belfast now down to 2.8. Keeping a close eye on a snow shower which has just crept over the north coast. Hopefully we might see some of it here in the city.

From the look of the radar I might see some of the white stuff at around 2200. I have moved desks in preperation (Now I can see a lampost :o ) It is bitterly cold here and very dry. Heres hoping.

It was seriously breezy here last night with lots of sleety showers. Has calmed down a lot now and the sun is shining. Not expecting any snow here but any who do get some please enjoy it for those of us without B)

Started snowing last night at about 20:00, came down so quickly I didn't notice until we had about an inch. Woke up to two or three inches this morning. Had fantastic thunder storm through the night.

Hi guys, have just this minute got back from Alcudia and I experienced the storm on thursday first hand. I do have some video and I will get my tech minded partner to post them on tuesday for you all to see. It was the scariest thing I have experienced and at the same time amazing fun.

Wow the snow here has just got heavier again. Here are lots of photos ive taken. Most are blurry because i couldnt use flash, because falling snow was all i could see when i used flash:

Not even 1 snow flake fell here in Belfast overnight. Heading home to bed in an hour and don't expect to see anything when I wake up later unless any of you wonderful people can give me some hope. Maybe I will just have to wait until Saturday. :o

Am I imagining things has the snow stopped moving this way altogether? Last time I looked it was much closer.
Is there a large wall somewhere to the south that I don't know about?

You may get lucky. In the Republic the rain is falling as snow increasingly now across inland areas as far south as Carlow :lol:

Please don't get my hopes up...Was just listening to a guy complaining abut football and he asked me a question. Didn't have a clue what he had said...was to busy measuring distances on the radar. lol - Yes we provide a wonderful service here at the BBC. :lol:
