So a long walk for me..what a adventour!!

But I have all camera's on standby with batteries on charge.

I think James..aka Trickey is covering Cleave Hill pic's and me Devil's chimney over to crickley if i can walk that far in the blizzard's..lol

    temp drop again, now 3,2

i can confrim it is snowing on cleeve Hill and settling in places probably more so on the top but just what i heard from a friend who lives near the rising sun, although it's light and we really need the heavy stuff soon. i doubt i will go up as i have a lot of essays to do. has been sleeting in cleeve but now has virtually stopped, not a bad thing though it allows the ground to dry up a little

    Snow-Icy road-possible blizzards - Netweather Alert

    Valid period: 28/12/09 2100 - 29/12/09 2359

    Issued by: john holmes

    Confidence: 80%

Alert for Snow-Icy roads-possible blizzards issued Tuesday 29 December 2009 This is an amendment and update to the Alert issued on Monday As the low south west of the UK pushes its moist and mild air north so the rain is going to turn to snow as it moves north. Areas most at risk of snow during Tuesday are roughly from the M4 northwards, to include much of central and eastern Wales, Herefordshire, Buckinghamshire, the Salisbury Plain area, along with the Cotswolds, Gloucestershire, taking in the cities of Bath and Bristol and possibly Gloucester. Areas to the north west of London could also get a spell of snow. Other areas to be affected later in the day will be parts of the Midlands, especially the west and by evening into parts...

its more than dark and cloudy, it's been raining for half a hour now and now just seen the first signs of sleet.

  3. my friend is driving to cannock staffs, on his day back to work today but he also had the choice of going to portsmouth, i said go to portsmouth as there is more chance that you will get back home to cheltenham, although he thought different, so i hope he made the correct decision, but then if he went to portsmouth he would of blamed me either way, so thought let the old fool make up his own mind. i know i will be at home keeping warm watching the snow fall.

  4. east midlands thread dont be silly, the scottish will kick off about that as they don't even havent southern or northern divide when discussing the cold spell, and may I add thats a fair point as people forget how big scotland is. it's best to class yourself as midlands because too many regions can overcomplicate these boards, i mean for example cheltenham is it in the midlands is it in the south west, west country, central southern england etc, i know im in the south west midlands shame the people on tv cant make their mind up.

in terms of totals it all depends at this moment of time its hard to predict as the front will break up,its one of those will see on the day.but think we will all see our fair share

  5. im still thinking very positive in terms of when heavy rain does come, temperature will always drop, so of course it will start raining but if it's persistent and heavy enough it will turn to snow. high groud like the cotswolds malverns will do well. but not that it will matter as the thaw sets in over the next few days. the only way it will be rain is that the showers will pass over in less than a hour, which looks likely, haha.

  6. I think if i gave them a ring and asked them "will it snow in cardiff?", it would be a no.

jay, what do you think of the development of a streamer again, looking out west (south of pembrokeshire) a few light showers have been developing over the morning and have grouped if they continue to develop then the chance of a shower cannot be ruled out, a long shot i must say but worth keeping an eye.

  7. can i just say to everyone, this is touch and go once the main band comes across temps will rise but at the moment promising for higher ground. just dont get to excited but conditions are set. i don't like to be boring and is usually the excited one, but the intensity looks great at the moment but not sure how much it will fizzle out as it hits land. in terms of timing it will be good as it approaches evening.

  8. dusting of snow in cheltenham, really was not expecting that, lovely to see though :), havent been on here for well over a year so its great to see and remember the old timers still inputting

i just assumed it stopped and havent checked for 10 minutes and it must of just carried on falling as it looks a whole much more whiter out there
