Proper snow here now and starting to lay: radar looks as if it won't last though. But nice to see...
-
Graupel?
Maybe.....it's stopped again as soon as it started! Groan...
update: and now it's trying to rain!
-
We have snow!!!!!!!
-
We have blue skies emerging from cloud as all passes to the north, or indeed south, of us!
-
Wind picking up here again now after half an hour of calmer conditions....
-
Really blowing up here in St Albans....gutter off and trees doing that Caribbean-palm tree thang! :o
-
Wouldn't the 'Ups' make more sense?
Not if you're on a sledge! Still coming down nicely here and definitely starting to lay
-
My road is bone dry!
Shame it's 4 degrees....
-
the longest and fastest sledge run I ever did.
I believe it! Took my daughter there last year and did one final cresta run, top to bottom completely breaking the sledge as they went. It's testament to what a good run it was that she didn't bat an eyelid when told we'd have to leave as the sledge was broken!!!
Snow has just paused, but it has looked very pretty so far!

I don't really know, I expected it to stop about 2 hours ago, but it is continuing, and is still back building.
I know! Amazing isn't it? Really thought we'd had it by 6pm (and was quite happy with that) and now it's actually getting more, not less!
-
Might be wishful thinking, but it does seem to be getting a little heavier here after the washing powder extravaganza of the last 7 hours!
-
Well, the thaw is slowly accelerating. So, I guess I've got to -0.2 on the Murr Scale...12cm befor 1800? Pull the other one!
Maybe 12cm of flood?
-
snowing here st.albans
Yup...and laying nicely! Already an icing sugar dusting..
-
That's what I like to hear. Do you dress them up to look like wizards, too?
How's the snaw?
Luvverly! about 5-6 cms and still coming down strong. Daughter picked up from school and shopping done. That's me in for the duration!
-
Probably nearer to 10cm here; so I doubt that the front will make much difference. Have you started teaching Nellie all about New Zealand's ubiquitous Celtic settlements, yet??
Of course! She will be kept indoors and indoctrinated this very afternoon...not!
-
Not bad at all, thanks, Roo...It hasn't stopped snowing since 9pm last night!
We only started at around 9am, but have got a cm or so and it just keeping coming! Think I will be picking up Miss Nellie early from school today..... EDIT: Just had a text from school and we have to go and get them at 1.30!

Hi Roo!
Long time, no hear...How are you, these days?
Hiya! All good! Had to get back on here for the snow! How's life with you?
-
We're all going home in a few minutes...anyone know what the roads are like in Luton/Dunstable/St. Albans??
I've just come home from St Albans towncentre to the SE of the town. All the major roads were fine, but the side roads are a bit slippy as they haven't been gritted.

Anyone else in Herts experiencing the sudden settling of snow in the past hour? Any explanations?
Looks like some of the local schools are closing early.
Hi Saint. Yup...it the snow is now properly settling: at daughter's school they've said they're staying open until the end of the day, but we can pick them up at any time from now if we want to.

Light snow in Snorbens.
A little unexpected treat

I will say this, the one positive about being in Lowestoft that if there's any discussions about needing to be east for colder air, I know I'll get cold air .
My family all came from Low'stuf and my auntie always used to say that there was a reason why they weren't any big trees!
-
Lovely day here! Went to Verulamium Park and there were actually two old chaps playing ice hockey on the lake!!! I kid you not...

Some really good quality research, interpretation and discussion on all things nuclear and beyond can be found on the Union of Concerned Scientists website

Just watched it pass over
Amazing isn't it, though quite a difference in brightness.
The 18.30ish tomoz one looks to be similar to tonight's first pass, which was just superb! Am keeping everything crossed for a clear sky, although I don't think we'll get it.
