I just dissambled our trampoline, figured if I left it out in the garden it may end up travelling from Galway to in Scotland by Monday evening, along with a collection of small plastic trucks...
Seriously though, been outside for ages prepping the garden and the house with extra stuff like checking downpipe fixings & drains.
Now for the inside stuff, those head mounted led lights are great, handy for when the power goes...its a bit mad though, buying bottled water, extra propane gas bottles for the cooker, as Met Eireann have issued the Red alerts for Galway
so now the threat is getting more real.
Talk later,
Dave.

Hi all,
Just found a link to a nearby (to me anyway!) weather station:
http://www.oranmoreweather.com/
It should supply reasonably detailed information during the Ophelia event as Oranmore town
is located at the inner end of Galway bay on Ireland's west coast
There is a scroll bar on the right hand side which slides to reveal graphs and such like.
I'm sure similar on line stations exist for counties Kerry & Cork...could be a way to monitor Ophelia as she rumbles along!
Cheers,
Dave.
PS: Thanks to Karl for the welcome!

Hi All,
I've been a forum lurker for some time now,
I've always found that this site is a mine of information,
I live near a small town called Oranmore on the west coast of Ireland, its close to Galway city,
I'm both looking forward to and a bit worried about Ophelia - I'll be battening down the hatches come this weekend!
I've included two links to local weather stations here:
http://www.galwaycityweather.com/
Cheers, Dave.

Hi all,
Greetings from a bright and showery county Galway this morning.
Storm Helene was a bit of a non event here really,
I'd say it did drop some rain in Scotland & northern UK though
The rag-tops had it ramped up to end of world status as usual,
Looking forward to more on this forum too!
