Bad snow here past two hours, if such a thing exists? Fairly accumalating I must say. Looks like more heavy stuff still on the way. Although the ice around the window sills and roofs did thaw.

Atrocious conditions here now in Louth and Meath, you can't drive in it, spells of whiteout due to snow drifting. Snowing all morning, more to come. Icicles on cars.

The red warning for the whole of RoI is embarrassing if I'm honest. Every Ulster Bank branch in the South closed even in areas with no snow and no forecast snow, yet in the North all branches open even in areas with loads of snow and forecast snow.
This must be costing millions.
Alright sure Mountain, have no red warning then somebody dies when a tree full of snow falls on top of them, then all the people lose their heads and blame the weather office and the Irish government for not having a red warning. You can't win either way.

Shocking weather here now, blinding snow and it has not even met Storm Emma yet. Hard to see. Another few inches last night. Between now and Friday afternoon who knows? I have a feeling this could be pretty bad for Munster/Leinster. Chances of more thunderstorm activity tonight with the blizzard.

We know it’s going to turn to snow the issue is if it will reach Northern Ireland though.
I don't see how it won't..

Well they are seeing a front meeting polar air so of course it will turn to snow.

Took the dog for a walk around 7PM, good snow showers then, it seems to snow every half an hour here tonight, another shower now. Plus the wind is causing the snow to blow around and drift, i've never felt snow so soft. Very quiet here, haunting to be out.

Irish government basically telling everybody to be home tomorrow by 4PM and to not go outside due to blizzard like conditions.. Mmm we'll see. Almost sounded like an order.

Has not snowed in mid-louth since around 7am. Around 3 inches fell here. The odd streamer may come through today but I don't think it will snow as much as they say. Isle Of Man blocking some showers.

Small coating of snow now in mid-louth... was not sticking this afternoon but it is now.

Confused with this ..
Met Eireann said that 'Storm Emma' will come into effect at 3pm on Tuesday and remain in place until 11am on Wednesday.
Do they not mean the storm on Friday is storm Emma???

Very much overhyped I have felt. If we were experiencing the -12 to -15 uppers and sub zero day time temps with snow like we had in Dec 2010 then yes it may have been a record breaking spell to look back on. As it is it won’t be and given we are heading into March and the sun being stronger I don’t think this will be anything special at all.
But if it is not very severe people will never trust the weather ever again. Any warning in future will just be laughed at each time until something serious actually happens and then people won't find it too funny.

Snow flurries in mid louth certainly becoming more thicker, good size flakes but not sticking yet, not enough to coat the ground anyway.

Showing this now on radar over Louth and north east but not seeing any of it where I am, confusing... I guess the radar can get confused

Anyone in Northern Louth to confirm the snow has arrived?
It is snowing in Louth right now but it is very tiny flakes, like almost micro snow mixed in with some ice pellets.

From Louth Weather on Facebook, dramatic stuff..
Weather wise, this could well turn out to be a week we will remember for quite a while. Yes it is that bad.
The situation remains similar to my forecasts last Thursday and Saturday. But with the addition of a deep low pressure system moving north on Friday that looks like it will produce blizzards and large accumulations of snow.
My inbox is full of messages from concerned people wanting to know if they can travel etc. Apologies, I simply cannot answer them all.
My advice is to prepare for a snow event later this week that will leave many house bound for at least a day or two. Businesses, schools and public transport will close IF the low pressure system stays on its current track. Please share and keep an eye on the page as I will be updating regularly as the situation unfolds.

Met Eireann still playing the wait and see closer to the time game.

ECM has around 60cm (SIXTY)of snow in the Dublin area during the course of the week! And that's before the drifts.
How long before Met Eirann put out a red warning?
Maybe not until Wednesday/Thursday, the earlier the put out a red warning the longer they will have to leave it active and it will only cause problems because people will just think there's no point going into work. Going to drive some employers luh-laa.

Very chilly here in mid Louth. Cold night ahead. A night for the fire.
