What? It's pure rain in Norwich with a temp of 1c.
Yeah my Wife who is in Norwich said the same thing. Started snowing at about 8am with a few 5 or 10 min flurrys of big flakes. No rain mixed in whatsoever.

Been snowing on and off in my location all morning. Was not expecting anything today. Im in Wymondham today.

Snow shower have all dried up for my part of Norfolk. Anyone know if showers will return later?

Looks like a load of showers going to those Amber areas. Not much happening to wards Norwich to my untrained eye. Anyone got a better view on this? I will be amazed if i get 2cm.

Must say im a bit disappointed with the snow levels predicted. I was hoping to get snowed in.

Does anyone have any idea on chances of decent snow tonight in Norfolk. Doesnt look great for tonight if you like snow in my area. Please correct me if im wrong!

Soooooooo Jealous. Nothing here all day!

Its updated for both.
-
Latest from the Met O.
http://www.metoffice...ldweatheralert/
Rather confusing because the NAE suggests only W parts but the update above suggests snow will be more widespread across the S. Even E Anglia has snow forecasted but less accumulations.
Do you think Norfolk will get any as at the moment it looks unlikely and I have seen showers passing over my head on the radar all morning without anything materalising.

Precipt in the north sea heading south.
-
Amber alert issued by meto for our region:
Yeah looking very good for my location however I will wait until the actual day to get excited as I have seen lots of Amber warnings before and not seen a single flake.
-
Im looking at the netweather one but this is also ok http://winter.buienradar.nl/sneeuwradar.aspxCan someone post a pic/link of euro radar? Is this net-wx one?
-
I know the big event is sat/sun however there is a lot of precip in the North sea heading my way, its still a way out but anyone know if this is like to hit land?
-
Yep i concur, its laying in the roads nowWe got snow in north Norwich - nothing much, just that light stuff that blows around in the wind, but the first snow of 2012 I've seen! wooow. Another billion trillion flakes and I'll be able to make a snow gerbil.

Thats fine however I could just blame my daughter who has just got Chicken Pox, maybe she has delayed the snow until she is better so she can play in it......never underestimate the power of an 18 month old baby.
Some of the more experience people on the Confused/Off topicThread(Also known as The Model Discussion Thread) are predicting that we will have some nice snow this weekend so there is still hope yet.
Not blaming anyone its just that normally the Met Office are fairly prompt with warnings when there is any hint of a risk.Don't blame the Met Office for not issuing a Yellow warning yet, still way too much uncertainty about the set-up to put out that sort of warning.
Anyway NMM is suggesting a Wash Streamer develops, maybe a smidge north for most of this area on Thursday but the flow looks interesting. Wouldn't be surprised if several cms fall tomorrow eveing near the Wash.
-
I am surprised by this as normally the Met Office would give some kind of yellow warning a couple of days in advance of heavy snow. If it doesnt happen I think I may be to blame as I was fairly confident of heavy snow this week so I got a sledge for my daughter and I so maybe i Jinxed it. Doesnt seem to take a lot to change the daily outputs this week so maybe it was all me.Chris Fawkes just said on latest beeb forecast on N24 " significant snow moving into the East on Friday - with focus over our region :-)
He also confirmed big concerns for weekends snow. If the front doesn't pull away to the SE some very significant snow to come
-
It'd be so light nothing'd come of it though, same for me up near the coast just not cold enough (yet)
Very true but hopefully the fun part will come later in the week.
-
Its all coming down as rain anyway so I wouldn't be too concerned!
Thats just the Precip chart, if it fell it would be snow.
-
Oh look, you can see the Norwich Triangular snow shield in place
-
Very very light snow here 10 miles south of Norwich, I can actually see the flakes this time without a magnifying glass. Gone very dark last half an hour.
-
GFS quite keen on developing a Wash Streamer type event in 72hrs time. Seems quite logical really looking at the flow and the deepening cold aloft.
I think the Met Office are going to be well caught out if they think this will be a dry flow...
Hopefully the Norwich Snow Shield will finally be battered down
Anyone going to have a go at a forecast for our region over the next few days with some idea of snow fall based on latest model outputs?
