ETA if it was ? Can see lighting flashes to my south
Hour or so away from Leeds I'd say, 90 mins at most. Will see it coming from way off if it gets going. I can already see occasional flashes high up.

A couple of pockets just appearing West of Bradford, there may be some mileage in this yet!

Just passed over me, it was absolutely phenomenal, I can't wait to sort through all the footage I got of it. I think that was the best thunderstorm I've ever seen in this country, and tomorrow looks promising for many people aswell. One of those flashes was so bright it covered my entire vision, the thunder was less than a second later and was more of a boom than a rumble. Crazy stuff, I wonder if anyone else from the area got footage of that storm
I got it from a distance. Absolutely beautiful.

Something south of Manchester heading Leeds way? Fingers crossed...

Going crazy just south of Leeds - counted 28 flashes in a minute. 10 miles from me, quite the spectacle.

Properly kicking off in North Leeds right now. Plenty of strikes within a mile. Torrential rain.

Afternoon @Weather-history, sadly I have to say you're right, it looks like today is a bust.
I’ve just checked the radar and all I can see is one strike around the Leeds area... Can anyone confirm this?
Yes, I was on Armley gyratory in sudden torrential downpour. Bright flash, couple of seconds later two distinct very loud gunshot sounds. Nearby roads flooded.

Planes coming in to Manchester airport not taking the usual approach path over the pennines, cutting it well short!
