  1. It doesn't look like it's melting in Kiruna anytime soon, however. Usually cold waves in Northern Sweden are very momentum-based and last quite long. December is also cold enough for low-pressure systems to very rarely bring anything other than snow too.

  2. It's gotten really cold up there now. Lycksele saw a -22°C high today or thereabouts, while coastal non-Lapland towns were around -15°C. Needless to say the snow there reliably lasts for more than three months, unlike here south of Stockholm, when it hardly takes hold all winter long.
