Evening all. Well after a disappointing day yesterday todays outlook was nothing for Lincoln. However after checking the radar I’ve seen the line of storms and it does seem to be moving northeasterly. Not sure we will see anything however some of the better storms are the surprising storms so let’s see.

Call me optimistic, but the storm south of Leicester seems to be building to the east. Okay okay I’m really sat here trying to be optimistic. However… an hour ago I’d say no chance for us now there’s a glimmer!!

Looking very promising to be a Lincolnshire/Yorkshire day this afternoon I reckon
What sort of time looks prime. I’ve been under a rock this week. Had a few flashes 15-20 mins ago. 1 decent rumble.

One rogue cell went up to the west of Lincoln but it has subsided and didn't become electrified. Most of the lightning activity is currently in NE England and the east of Ireland.
Not feeling too optimistic for here today. But hey who knows

I feel like we are on edge here in Lincoln today. Not completely getting my hopes up however it seems anything that does develop nearby today could pack an attitude. Hot muggy and just sweltering. Let’s see how the afternoon goes. All the best everybody!

I am in Scunthorpe for the day today and there seems to be something developing near by. A slight radar return in the last few mins too. Let’s see. Wind’s definitely picked up too!

Had a close CG earlier - my water butts are full up now too.
chance of severe storms, perhaps a few supercells, over parts of E England today, more in my Severe Thunderstorm Watch here:
Severe Convective Weather & Storms Forecast - Netweather.tv
WWW.NETWEATHER.TVhere's a few charts of parameters that suggest a severe risk. High theta-w / high CAPE, some DL and LL shear (note significant tornado parameter) Lincs could be prime position
Will be keeping a close eye today. Not getting hopes up but it feels like one of those days where there could be a few mighty surprises.

Well there is some potential today in Lincoln for something big this afternoon. Need this band of rain to move through and that strong June sunshine to work some magic.
Question? How come Storms like the ones we are seeing this morning associated with a large area of rain always seem to contain more powerful lightning strikes and louder thunder? Apologies if that’s a silly question but genuinely curious.

Quiet few days in Lincoln. Very warm and muggy. Today looks like possibly our best chance of something… not holding my breath but you never know.

Cumulonimbus cells have been almost stationary to the west of Lincoln for the past two hours, but haven't produced any thunder (they're near enough such that if there was thunder I would hear faint rumbles). Somewhere just to the west has clearly had a lot of rain so far today.
I imagine it being one of those days where if I was on the Tyne and Wear coast I would be in a frustrating no-convection zone, with convection going up a fair way to the west and low cloud rolling in from the North Sea. Here in Lincoln there's no no-convection zone in sight, but the main convection is definitely a bit to the west.
Some lovely cloudscapes though this morning. Hopefully something happens for us later . Hykeham seems to be a sweet spot for hearing thunder in recent times

I posted in the summer discussion thread that I'd missed the storms in Lincoln today - here's hoping that I did a Murray Walker/commentator's curse!
Love it!!! Thunder heard skies look dark. As Tom said earlier lincoln has been the producer today so maybe our chance now?

Something big developing to my west. Gone very dark........ and as I type the first distant rumble.

So..... I was suppose to be at work today all day... but the boss said at 9am go. Beautiful!! Looking at the forecasts Lincoln is looking more promising than first thought. One thing I’ve noticed today is the humidity. Feels like a tropical day in Florida. Guess it’s wait and see. Good luck everyone today.

Yep looking like a drowned rat Down here in hykeham while walking the dog. The gust front as it approached was quite spectacular. Intense rainfall. Lots of thunder and a few flashes of lightning seen. No hail down this end of the city. All in all apart from getting soaked, very happy
