  1. Alpe Dhuez is getting a real pasting today! It's looking good for getting some base snow down, I dont know how long it will last for, hopefully this might stick around, and not melt, be about time to get a good base really, then build on top of it, lets hope so!

Update: 80cm at 3330m The webcam is situated at around 2000m and thats is a whiteout at the moment, its a pitty we're going to have to wait until the morning to get a good view of it there, although the weather could be sticking around for a few more days yet!

  2. Hi again guys, been missing for much of the day on here lol, but glad to see this threads got people talking! :( and thanks for all the info! :D

John HCI means Human Computer Interaction, lol, I work with it a lot at Uni, its basically how websites (well general computer realated stuff, lol) interact with the users, how things are layed out, colour coordinated etc, some websites are really poor for this, just thought I'd let you know! :(

Yea, Im actually going on the 15th of Jan, Im hoping that winters got in to gear and we've got some nice levels of snow compacted down and some nice fresh powder. There is supposed to be a dusting I think at some point this week, what will last of it, we'll have to see!!

I don't know how many of you do ski or do board, but have you realised how many times your board gets run over by skiiers, and poked witht their sticks, lol, just thought I'd point that out after a very friendly French geezer nicely skiied straight over my nice new board and the bottom of Palafour in Le Lac last Season, nice of hime, I have a nice scratch there too this day! lol :D

  3. Thanks guys! yea, its not really been a good start to from what I've seen, Tignes has had a decent snowfall, and a couple of pistes are open, but the majority don't open untill December anyway, I dont think there'll be much skiing going on unless something changes soon, lol, although I myself am a snowboarder, (I class myself at a higher level as skiiers, lol, if you would like to know why just ask, lol) but Im going on Jan 14th there will be snow by then, I just hope a nice decent ammount, and we get some powder.

The trouble about looking for local forcasts is that they are in French! lol, I do know quite a bit of french but not too much, lol. I'm trying to learn more though, so it might help actually using those sites! lol.

    Again Thanks

  4. Hi everybody, its been a while since I last posted, probly March time I reckon, but its coming up to that time again where, hopefully, we shall start getting some snow here  , we'll see!! Anyway, I was having a look around the messageboards for any threads about the current and future weather happening in the Alps. I am going to the French Alps (Alpe 'Dhuez to be precise) and things haven't really kicked off there yet, so I would like to start this thread for anybody to give me and anybody who's interested updates, forecasts etc on what is happening. :)

    Cheers

  5. Hi All!

Its been a while since I've been on here, hope evrybody is well, I've been mulling over these threads for a couple of weeks now, some very interesting reads.

Things certainly do look interesting for the coming months leading up to Winter although those down south are still getting some remarkable temps for this time of year, it is gradually cooling down here, and hopefull y it will carry on to do so, although it looks as if it could be warming up again next week  lol, what we need is some heavy rain to stave off the drought in the south, it isn't bad at all up here, and some much cooler temps. Winter looks very interesting indeed and I'm glad to be along for the ride ;)

    Regards

  6. Some quite heafty snow showers here, we had some last night which melted away, and then through the night, it must have been too wet to stick at first as on all the cars, trees, walls etc its about 2inches deep or so, on the pavements totting up to a cm, and on the road it looks quite daunting, the last heavy snow shower caused a covering which is now turning slushy due to the sheer volume of traffic, have a safe journey wherever you are and take care. It looks as if theres more snow to come for me, but then a return to milder air turning it back to rain, just glad to see some more snow at long last! :)

  7. It was snowing here 8 this morning, nothing really of note, gave us a slight dusting, this soon melted away, around 10:45 snowed rather heavily, on and off, it then snowed very heavily for around three quaters of an hour giving a good covering, about 3cms of snow fell, very nice surprise indeed, it stopped snowing around 2:30 it is now beggining to turn rather slushy because of the ammount of people walking on it, very nice though indeed, especially walking around christmas shopping, felt very festive indeed!
