Very faint distant thunder rumbling near North Dorset, Sturminster Newton and very oppressive. Going very dark too. Fingers crossed!!
Weird that there is nothing even remotely close to here on lightning radars.

Looks like it's kicking off over Yeovil way again. Could we be lucky enough to get a second instalment or am I just being greedy?

Well that was an unexpected treat! Short but very active Storm over Sherborne area, Dorset. Fantastic lightning. Still flickering in the distance...

Well I'm happy at last! Had a cracking storm earlier this evening over North Dorset / South Somerset. Weird thunder though. Not particularly loud but none stop crackly thunder that just continued without a gap for ages. Rather eerie. Never heard anything quite like it....

Good afternoon storm fans
Well done to everyone that got a decent storm last night, it was decent display once the first rain band passed through.
I did manage to get some shots, but I need to go through and sort them, so will post when I get a moment.
The skies are starting to look better, plus we have quite a clear slot passing through, this should have an impact on getting something going for people further inland, and this is what I can see to my north
Good luck, let's hope someone kicks off soon
If it kicks off down your neck of the woods later, maybe tempted to drive down to get my fix.... provided that the pub hasn't drawn me in first

Don't know why we still have a storm warning in place for Sherborne area. Reckon it's more likely to snow than thunder. More than happy to be proved wrong though.....

Well I awoke at about 4am. More due to humidity than anything else. One bright flash that I was aware of even with my eyes closed. Apart from that just a few distant flickers and no thunder. Bit odd really. One minute there were storms south of us. The next minute North of us. Must've had the pause button pressed as they passed over ...

Another rumble and the rain is getting heavier. Dare I get excited yet ?
-
Well we now have rain and anyone with amazing hearing may have just noted a distant rumble. Nothing more exciting yet though in Sherborne area....

Belting it down here as I found out to my cost while walking the dog. Really thundery skies but not so much as a single flicker of Lightning. All happening way north of us

The one time that you could have experienced some interesting weather, you were away!
I know. And all I have to show for it is a flooded workshop

Typical . 10 miles away, near Sturminster Newton where my workshop is, flash flooding, lightning, thunder, apparently really extreme conditions. I received a phone call to say my unit is flooded so not sure what I'm going to find in the morning.... Here at home, near Sherborne, not even so much as spit of rain....

Well, having winged for most of the summer that all storms seem to miss us here in north Dorset / south Somerset, we've had 2 pretty epic storms, one yesterday and today. Both times for about an hour with plenty of cg lightning, shot gun thunder and rain of biblical proportions and flash flooding. Weird part is, it's been fairly chilly.

Is the lightningmaps website not working? Just seems odd that every storm over Europe and the uk has stopped at the same time

Well at last I've joined! A short but quite intense storm has just passed over Sherborne. Probably about 40mins. Torrential rain and flash flooding....

Slightly jealous of everyone getting all these amazing storms. Storms seem to be passing to my East and there is nothing South or West of us so game over here in Sherborne I reckon...

Sometimes I have to be really self disciplined being self employed because the temptations to say " to work, I'm getting in the van and going storm chasing" is almost overwhelming
