why do the tv forecasters still go on about how calm it is, and going to be ?, it's still windy 20-40mph all this week, are they just trying to make people feel good for xmas ?

Certainly has been a dry period, not just over the last couple of weeks but really since the new year if not earlier.I suspect that but for the deluges of last summer and the height of the water table due to it we would have been looking at hose pipe bans by now although past experience says that as soon as a ban is announced the rain begins.
I'm just gobsmacked that the wonderful netweather forecast is showing rain every day (except next tuesday, which is the very day I would bet on a sprinkle falling) for the next week giving moderate rain at 7pm EVERY DAY ~ there's got to be something screwed up in the software for that

I'm going to have to go and water the garden if it doesn't come soon
flippin weather forecasters

I can't get over the forecast I am getting for here from netweather, it says it's going to rain every day at the same time (7pm) for the next week
Looking at the charts I can see nothing which would give me the slightest hint of such weird weather, I can't see anything in the way of rain until about thursday next week !
I can only hope it's a quirk in the system somewhere but time will tell
ps. weather station down for repair, ignore below wind charts -
forecast showing tomorrow wind 2.6mph with gust of 2mph

snow, some people think it's just pretty and fun, to others it's more life or death

I don't know where this temperature is coming from, 7c with gales from the North, gusts of 42mph (a semi sheltered direction), but how is this wind so warm ? from that direction I would have expected the monkeys would be looking for a welder

7.4c 993mb falling 1.5/hr, just started raining, very windy ~ SE 25-30mph (even with the weather station wound down, it's presently mounted on my telescopic radio mast and slightly sheltered by the roof of the house)

big sloppy flakes +2.1c, nearly calm, radar shows it picking up more over the Irish Sea coming this way
usual road chaos, although only really staying on the grass around here, just a sloppy wet mess

regular visits by sparrows, great tit, chaffinch, blackbird (feed on the fallen apples), starlings (perch on my aerials !) jackdaws, robin, collared dove (regular pair), thrush, saw one goldfinch last week, and the odd visit from herring gulls (when I put leftover bread out) and the odd magpie
occasional sightings of greenfinch and blue tit when I have time to watch carefully but not seen recently
not noticed any particular change of habit, always hungry, the jackdaws have developed the knack of emptying the feeder
