Some models (such as GFS06) are predicting onshore breezes that may keep temperatures quite low in the Edinburgh area. Latest GFS is predicting 22C on Sunday, and only 20 on Monday and Tuesday thanks to north-eastern winds.
aye that happened in july 2019 too, whilst edinburgh broke it’s temperature record at about 31c leuchars only recorded about 22c max that day because of the easterly breeze

The next trend started a day - couple of days ago and I had a suspicion on what could be making the models have the temperatures notched down a bit its still warm - hot temps mind. there's the answer I believe, these charts have me saying Holy F**k and Sunday also looking like a Hot day seeing the max temps through the central belt into Fife
aye certainly not doubting we’ll get a good dose of heat- i’m just meaning it won’t be as extreme as other places further south in relative terms
the record high here is around 30c meaning to break it by 2c it would need to reach 32, and most models are showing 22-26 in my area, we had 27 last sunday so it wouldn’t even make it the hottest day of the year!
on another note- that thundery breakdown looks like something to look forward to- just hope it holds off until half 8/9pm as that’s when i finish work!

is it just me or have a lot of the charts ‘downgraded’ for up here, especially toward the east? we were seeing widespread 32/33 for areas even as far north as moray, now mid/late 20s at best and only areas scratching 30c are right at the border

Just had random 5 mins of gushing rain, gusty winds, cars alarms going off??? Feels like the Midwest out here

Dunfermline area seems to be getting some decent activity by the looks of it, kinda wish I was over in that direction
that was overall kind of underwhelming.. lots of rumbling, but nothing too loud and I didn’t see any lightning

Can hear a little bit of rumbling....

That storm system is clearly heading to the wrong side of Edinburgh for me
Seems to be following the same path as the one earlier

Nice day today. Supposedly reached 30 degrees but it felt quite cool in the shade compared to what I expected, because of the rather strong breeze this afternoon. Not even close to hot and with very low humidity it was just a nice day.
That easterly breeze was properly strong, leuchars recording maximum of only 17 while places in the highlands hit 28!

26.8c here today, June record is 27.4
If it wasn’t for this easterly coastal breeze tomorrow, I could definitely see that figure being surpassed!

That would be a pleasant surprise , the last decent nighttime storm I remember was after that heatwave in late July 2018..
would be even better if we get one on both nights

As much as I like hot weather, I can understand some of the points these people are making... where I am generally during heatwaves max temps are 7-10c lower than in London, so theoretically 33c means 23-26c where I am, and that can be enough to keep me up sweating at night..

Haven’t had a single rumble here in the NE so far... fingers crossed for Friday night

No storms here either. We had thunder in May on one day but that’s it so far this year.
Every morning has been foggy recently but it clears away by noon.
Fingers crossed for July...

Nothing on the south coast, there’s always next year? But I said that last year..
I always thought the south coast was good for stuff coming across from France?

Typically dull early summer easterly spell here. Overcast with thick fog and drizzle overnight before it raises to a grey sheet by 9am which remains all day apart from a couple of hours late-afternoon. No chance of convection either.
We've had 4 days like this now.
Same here, the suns just come out for the first time in a week

Anyone else in east scotland/NE England, had nothing at all so far this year
-
Not sure about anyone else but I’d like it if our climate was like the central/northeastern US- hot summers with most precip coming from thunderstorms, and freezing winters with plenty of snow- a best of both worlds.
Certainly not a fan of endless cloud and drizzly frontal rain!

Models looking a bit spicier this evening, especially UKV.. I know we’ve to take these things with a pinch of salt but this would smash the scottish record out of the park with 36 just over the border
