Raining here too. The BBC were much closer with their temps today. 3C while the met only had it briefly going above 0C all day.
Sadly the usual for us. Virtually every promised snowfall ends up in disappointment. The Lanarkshire snowshield/thundershield strikes again!

Snow can be difficult to forecast but it wasn't whether it would be sleet or snow that's the issue, they just had it in the wrong place. They were both showing a 50% + chance of snow at less than 4 hrs too, at that stage you'd be as well looking out the window.
Forecasting I know can be difficult at times but to me that's wildly wrong this morning.

Crisp, clear morning in Motherwell. Hoping for a 2010 style event tomorrow, expecting a regular one however given we just don't seem to get much luck with these......

Needless to say my 12-year-old son is quite keen for a real dumping of snow what with school on the Tuesday -). Would be nice have to say and does look promising.

Northerlies create wishbone effect and westerlies tend to turn to rain. Struggling to get the excitement so far, not wanting to put a dampener on it but I can also sense the possibility of mass disappointment next week!
North of the Central belt is a different matter of course.
Normally the case I agree, though I recall the great dumping we got in November 2010 happened with a front which moved North-South over Scotland. Remember it well, got into work at 8.30 not a drop of snow and by mid-day the snow was quite deep. This pic was on the journey home from Ravenscraig to Motherwell (via Bellshill) and took about 6 hours! Only had 3-4 hours snow but was utter chaos.

Models seem to be aligning towards low 70s here next weekend. That'd be something else for early-mid October.

Surprised to see so many days for Motherwell (8 I think) considering it usually seems to peak 2-3c higher further west during hot spells. Just a shame somebody parked next to the station and ruined our all time record in 2018.
As was I. Once again, however, our thunder barrier was again very effective over the past few days once again..-)

Noticed as I was driving back up to work there that what was rain five minutes earlier clearly has sleet amongst it now. I imagine on my way home in an hour or so's time that'll be snow.

Our "dusting" was akin to a mild dandruff case. Pitiful as usual.

That looks a bit like a snow to rain event for the central belt south, then heavy sleet/rain on Sunday into Monday possibly turning to snow, but very close to a snow event. Hope it's wrong and it's all snow but I' not expecting much, especially with no warnings issued.
Living in what has to be the best snow/thunderstorm shield in the whole world here in Motherwell warnings mean little here - simply doesn't ever seem to happen! Hopeful that we get one of those unpredicted events that we haven't seen since, em, well.....

Same as yesterday here in Motherwell, cold (-7 think it was overnight) but those snow showers melting as they crossed Lothian and not making it here at all. Hopeful for something tonight, be surprised if we get anything and fingers crossed for the weekend - though it looks to quickly disappear come Monday sadly.

And New Romney. Interesting when the lightning flashes and it appears slightly differently on the 4 cams here

This morning was awoken by booming thunder about 6.15. Sadly didn't amount to much. Approx 4 CG and associated thunder and heavy rain. Nothing since and this year again that's the most we've had. Be it virtually no snow or thunder, Bellshill is the place to be..

There were tiny hints of more here but it quickly disappeared and another disappointing event snow-wise. Looks like yet another dismal winter.
