  1. Just drove home from Milton Keynes way, temps up to 31 according to car. At home now having lunch before heading out. About 28 here and well ahead of the CF but some of the bubbling cumulus is actually getting a bit big here, might have to see what it does rather than heading off up the motorway immediately!

Edit to add not very good pic:

Just been looking over at the US storm prediction centre and was on the Holland, Michigan cam earlier observing  big orange distant CG’s at their dawn! It must be heaven over there as a storm nut! Pretty much daily/weekly mesoscale discussions and all aspects of storm watches available! The Chicago and Great Lakes area looks awesome for general activity over the summer, with severe events on quite a regular basis.

    Meanwhile in the U.K.... zzzz

One of my favourite YouTube storm videos ever is from Chicago August 2008. While it's quiet in here I thought I'd share it. Try and listen to the audio, by far the best thing about it. Plenty of positive lightning, car alarms and sirens!

  3. Did a smol chase, got on the Bakewell storm as it approached Matlock then redeveloped near Ashbourne, gave up as it redeveloped again toward Stoke performing a sort of 270 degree turn in total also chased the ones near derby and Nottingham for a time. Did manage to see a few cgs and as others have said very frequent thunder from hidden IC strikes. Not a drop in Belper as usual @Supacell
