  1. Hi everyone. East Lancs Rain here. Can’t sign into my other account so using this one instead. It’s a wet evening out there, currently 11.2°C and raining heavily. Was planning to do a night walk up Pendle hill for Halloween but decided to stop in instead because of the bad weather. This unexpected rain is really badly timed as it will spoil it for a lot of kids trick or treating.

From a weather perspective, October wasn't the most interesting of months; however it provided plenty of 'usable' weather for outdoor activities - which is always a good thing.

October is usually the most average and boring month of the year, nothing particularly warm or cold. Just persistent mildness. Especially this year.

Mmm a rather non descript end to October, in what will go down apart from the very mild conditions a non-descript month. Rainfall probably a bit above average, sunshine near average. No storms again, what has happened to the atlantic in recent years! Last year Storm Arwen came from the north unusually.

Looking ahead, less than enthused, but I find first half of Nov, least likely time to escape the mild atlantic steam train.. wake me up in 3 weeks..

Yes it has been quite a benign October. Temperatures have been almost persistently above average. Despite this, there has been no exceptionally mild days, it has been consistently highs of 13-16°C, with quite a lot of rain.

The amount of posts seems to reflect a sad lack of interest this year but I am sure within the next 72 hours it will come to life , perhaps everyone is polishing their skis and sledge runners!

Yeah only two posts in the whole of December! Must be the quietest thread on here at the moment. And the COVID thread the busiest!

A better day than anticipated, there was a heavy shower mid afternoon, but otherwise just a few shortlived showers and some welcome sunny breaks at times. Became cooler in the afternoon after a very mild start.

Outlook thankfully looks much more promising, hopefully plenty of sunny spells and blue skies to cast aside the gloom, and a welcome return to frost, which we have not had much of at all this season so far.

Still too early to call but Christmas Eve could be a lovely crisp winter's day, long time since we had a such a Christmas Eve, 2010 last one, but nowhere near as cold as then. I'd be happy to wake up to a frost, and have it lingering in sheltered spots all day with a max of say 4 degrees. Not to much to ask for is it?

I remember we had the exact same conditions as you mentioned on Xmas Eve 2 years ago here! Bright, cold and frosty. Xmas Day and Boxing Day 2018 was mild and cloudy though.

The first proper autumnal start of the season today with thick fog which even caught the met office out with them not issuing a weather warning for it until around 04:20

Yeah it was still foggy when I woke up around 6 am today. Leftover fog from all the fireworks. Happens every year here.
