I must say, I've been a long time reader since 2005, but Andy i hate it when you get everyone's hopes up all the time! Especially to the non educated about the weather! Why post charts after charts than never verify?! Maybe for the mountains but not for the majority of normal people in Wales. If i'm honest your posts just give people false hope if they love snow. Anyway enough said

Sorry buddy, Im Scottish but like the Welsh, I am pretty cool. No floods here. Cheers!
Sorry hope i didn't offend you, i know what you mean though, things happen within this country, but when it happens to the South East its main news!!!!!!!!!
There are people living outside of this area

Maybe because it's quite rare down south? I don't think people are crying though, although if your house was flooded out or badly damaged through wind you may have so different take on things?
Rare down south, Maybe? try living in South Wales. Battered by constant wave after wave of depressions from the South West for almost 2 months!!

Nobody crys about it in Scotland, seems to be a London thing.
Exactly, same thing if it happens in Wales!

Yes Marcus the gentle breeze has become 75mph
I think the last bit of my remaining fence will take off shortly!!
-
Winds have picked up here as well, some strong gusts but nothing like the other day.
After quite a lull here in Swansea for the last few hours, where has this come from??
-
I'm in Killay, snowing heavily and nothing settling?Just looked out of the window and everything is white and it's still snowing. Pleasant surprise and I just hope it continues.
-
What a difference the height makes, Killay to Tycoch!!!!Really coming down heavy and for the first time tonight really starting to settle properly on most surfaces, car, grass, and on even on pavements it is starting to from that slushy layer before settling proper.
Of course, it could go 2 ways, if it stays like this for 5 minutes, it will quickly thaw, but if it continues like this for a few hours, a few cms are likely on most if not all surfaces.
-
Hi JackoneI think the nowcasting suggests NAE under estimates precipitation potential further west, however getting snowfall is one thing, get it to settle on all surfaces is another. As others have found.
Snowing quite heavy in Killay, nothing settling though? Is it settling with you?
-
Just wondering, whereabouts in Swansea are you?Come down nicely now cannot see grass at last!
-
No didn't amount to much, wind blowing it everywhere but on the ground!Did it amount to anything? Radar looks weird, precipitation heading in every possible direction!
-
Almost stopped now.Just out of curiosity, how heavy? By the looks of things I may get some v.light stuff, but thats great you guys got some!

Still snowing in Swansea, and has been for the past half an hour!It seems that the band out to the west and south west have both decreased in size and intensity, probably going to get few flakes and thats it, but I dont mind, its still white outside!
-
It's a shame I was sitting at a computer and trying to follow a 'blip' on the internet really. Lesson learned hopefully!
I don't think i will ever see a 747 flying this low ever again in Swansea!!!!
-
Missed the plane plane because I was trying to locate it with the virtual radar on my computer, looked like it was over Devon (Doh, slap forehead). Went outside to find it had flown overhead, as they do. Took this photo at least half an hour after it had passed, probably a bit more. Then waited for it to return but never did (between about 8:10 to 8:40PM). Nice to come back a different way to the way you went I suppose, like a walk.
It was unbelieavable to see!!
-
What a shock, tonight whilst out in my garden, being in Swansea which is the usual flight path for planes to America, the British Airways test flight flew over at a few thousand feet have never seen a plane this low in this area before. My children were amazed!!!!

Go lampost go lampost go lampost!!
Am opening a new pack of hob nobs, and getting the tea on for the lampost.
Feed your lampost and it will deliver.
I still can not understand how so much snow can exist in one lampost lamp?
Perhaps its like a portal to some snow universe?
I nominate my lampost for lampost of the year (wales regional finals).
Hi i'm not far from you (killay) quite a nice covering now, do you think we will get a lot more tonight?
-
Hi,just wondering, my kids go to sketty school, are you near there and what do you think of the chances of it being open tomorrow??
