Looks like the snow chances for Xmas day night into Boxing day are sliding south as usual. It's painful reading those darn sarf getting excited saying they never get snow.
Anything north of the M4 is north and apparently gets buried every year under 5cm of snow. They want to try living on the North Notts snow shield. Have had no settled snow for nearly 2 years.
I am praying to the snow gods for some on Xmas Day night.
Merry Christmas everyone and fingers crossed we are the sweet spot.

Great to see you back Scott and I prefer it in here as the IMBY posts from down sarf seem to be were alot of negativity towards some.models come from.
I'm feeling really quite positive about the next cpl of weeks and believe that I will see some of the white sky candy at some point. Will it be Xmas day? I don't know and nobody does right now but I'm not fussed.
We are in a wonderful place moving forwards and considering previous Xmas periods have come and gone weather wise this year just has something special about it.
As Bon Jon said " Keep the faith "
Stay happy guys and let's enjoy the next cpl of days. Hopefully come Monday we will be alot firmer in the outcomes.

Watching a streamer chance coming towards North Notts again but keeps breaking up....
Met office shows nothing all night
Bbc weather shows heavy snow all night
I give up

As soon as that Amber warning popped up... it all went pear shaped.....
Had about 4cm here and it is starting to thaw already.......
Disappointed that they showers never got their act together and banded up. Just 5 min bursts with breaks in the cloud.....

Looks like we have had about 3 to 4 cm here. ( nodded off )
It's still banging it down and it's coming in sideways almost. Just noticed the Amber warning as well for this area from 6am until 2pm. Reading through here it's been hit and miss.
Also the met office has issued the warning but looks sporadic moving forwards with patchy showers more than an organised band. Hoping for some more organisation moving forwards but judging by other comments I don't think we are doing bad as it stands.

Very sporadic showers. Was hoping for a more constant streamer style event. These showers likely to band together?

Looks like its Superbowl and Radar watching for abit longer, with a night cap
Exactly the same as me.

Watching the streamer.... is it me or is it getting wider? Its coming over north Notts and north lincs but looks to be getting wider over the coast? This will help those abit further north get in on the act as well.

We have a dusting now on the North Notts / S Yorks border..... looking at the streamer it looks to be coming directly over this area.
Thoughts Scott?

Something tells me there are going to be some tired weather fans tomorrow morning from this forum.....
Superbowl is on.
Beer is cold.
Bring on the radar watching........

Snowing in North Notts now.
Blowing all over the place in the strong wind. Its light but I really think we are in a prime location moving forwards. Just like 2010

Looking at the streamer potential it does look like it has moved south a touch. This takes it right over north Notts north lincs border. Kind off the area that did well in 2010. I think I'm seeing that right anyway.....

I think there is some model fatigue setting in. I also think I may be ready for a break and turn to lamppost watching and keep everything crossed for us all.
I think our best chances are Mon to tue
As old Bon Jovi always says boys and girls....
Keep the faith.....

Finding ourselves slap bang under a dry spot. The moaning southerners have stolen our snow after crying about it not being south enough last week. All those tears must have increased the moisture levels.
Fingers crossed guys and gals we see something. Maybe have to rely on the streamer set up possibilities

A repeat of the 2010 Chesterfield, Sheffield & South Yorkshire, Notts & Derbyshire streamer is a strong candidate for Sunday / Monday.
Mate I truly hope so. It seems that here on the North Notts / South Yorkshire Border we are in no mans land. I recall 2010 though very well as I was working nights and it just absolutely hammered us here.
I'm hoping for the same streamer potential.

I'm right on the south Yorkshire border and Lincs border here in North Notts. ( 65 miles inland ) That's why I use this model as its the closest my little village has to a family.
These snow charts are always iffy this far out because they don't pick up streamers or showers as well. We normally miss the majority in Walesby but i think that anyone could have a massive surprise dumping given the easterly being very direct.
Plenty of moisture collected from the North Sea and dropped right over us. Since getting into model watching over the last cpl of years this is the most exciting it has been. This could be epic for us in this location.
I don't even think we need anymore upgrades anymore as it stands.
Truly amazing

I can't cope in the main thread. However it always gets to the IMBY scenario the closer we get, always does.
Southern members - its not good
Midlands / North - its decent
Luckily we are in the latter and there seems to be at least some agreement we are near enough in the fun zone.
Although the UKMO has slowed its snowmobile down and drifted towards the gfs alittle its still looking really good for us.
