  1. Suprised how little snow melt there was today considering it was clear blue sky for majority of the day. Still almost got full cover in garden not ready for any spring like weather just yet save it till to end of March April time.

Average and dry will do if cant stay cold 8 or 9 will feel very pleasant anyway temps in teens are just wrong at this time of year. Personally want more snow tbh and be nice to have an coldish winter and not be ruined by expectionally mild end to Feb even an average winter be nice.

From what I’ve heard from mates back in East Yorkshire quite a few low lying places have done well.

We have 7cm in Malton. That’s on the level in an area that hasn’t been exposed to the sun or any drifting. We’ve had no other settling snow this winter except for a dusting so I’m very pleased with that!!

It was more in regards to having to wait that long for snow. We have done ok here but wouldnt regard it as an classic so far so close if showers had being more intense and prolonged could have easily got 10 to 15cms possibly more. But hey the weather will do what it wants and just pleased to have an decent fall and who knows might be an few more pleasant suprises yet.

  3. Snow on and off through most of this morning but no real intensity to them and only last 10 or 15 mins got an  good covering but nowt significant. Sun making attempt to come out early days but has 2018 vibe about it where we get big gaps in the showers and no real depth.  Hopefully will get under an streamer that lasts at least an hour to put down few cms. Still long way to go  yet and certainly beats crappy cold or mild rain anytime.

  4. Remember Dec 2009 think it was about week before christmas Saturday evening we hit the bullseye with an streamer in Hull biggest flakes ever seen lasted an couple of hours i remember it well was an christmas night out in Hull city centre. Was an nightmare getting home think i was in t shirt to wouldnt dare do that these days not that we can go out. What is the best wind direction for snow would it be ENE flow usually the holy grail here or NE winds

I'm going the cautious route until I see the radar on the day because as 2018 proved, nothing is guaranteed. That was literally the perfect setup but we barely managed 1cm here throughout the entire spell.

In my experience, for around here what we don't want is that front being positioned too far north or it will kill off any shower activity. Uppers are -10C so for the immediate lowland areas close to the coast its going to be getting to 2-3C during the day so if the showers are light they wont accumulate as much then. The easterlies in 2010 and 2013 were quite similar, with very slow thaws during the day.

I think as long as the wind has a slight northerly component we'll be fine. If we start getting a more ESE direction (as seems to be the case on Tues) the longer sea track will favour areas further north and we'll lose the showers here.

Agreed if we get few cms be happy anything else is bonus 2018 was strange i think we got bit more then 1cm but the snow seem to dissapear inbetween falls even though was subzero maybe the strong winds it like it just evoparated. We can dream of feb 86 or 91 shame i was to young to remember both aslong as it doesnt turn out like Feb 2005 though that was way more marginal then this

the weekend could deliver to those who have missed out so hang in there

Hope so i have followed these forums for years and always enjoyed the rollercoaster of emotions espcially in the modal thread. I wont take anything for granted till snow falls out of sky Easterlies have gone tits up within 72 hours before. Be happy with 5 or 10cms sticking around for few days not much to ask.

In Bempton we had wet snow this morning but it didnt stick, on my lunchtime bike ride I gain another 40m up into the Wolds, and this was just enough to give a slight slushy covering in places. Very cold and wet though 3C at best, but I think what has killed it is the dewpoint as this rose above 0C this morning.

Getting pretty tiresome now though this isnt it.  York had an good covering 2nd time for them simliar altitude is it just the fact there further inland? why do these events always go against us here in lowland East Yorkshire and Lincolnshire 9 times out of 10 were 20 odd miles away from coast but right on the humber.

Not a flake in snowless Bridlington so far this winter ~ plenty of cold rain.

    Different world here !

Need to move to west coast snowed an few times in Blackpool and was snowing again this morning though i doubt it settled. Has being pretty dismal so far great if you like cold rain and sleet though. Still not convinced by this Easterly if this goes tits up will firmly be in spring mode the daffs are slowly starting to poke there head out the ground now.

To say it’s meant to snow in the morning it doesn’t really feel cold out! Is there colder air due to move in? Could be a damp squib here in York again if not

Same all winter suspect you will do better then here but looks another bust anywhere low lying within 20 odd miles of the coast. Cant say to fussed if going to turn rain anyway and cba to get up at 5am on off chance might get few flakes. Though local forecasts have mentioned chance of snow at low levels so who knows might get an suprise.

Starting to get exciting in the mad thread again! Can I get excited for snow? Yet to see a flake this winter and I have waited patiently since 2010 !!!

Dont get excited by anything till i see snow actually falling out the sky. I know nothing about the models and chart watching but until all three main models are in agreement within 24 hours then i dont buy it and even then liable to go belly up. Just hope people on the East Coast and low lying area's get to join in fun this time if anything happens of course. I still think were more likely to get an record breaking warm spell in Feb. But hopefully get an Feb like 86 or 91 lol can dream
