First flakes are falling! That in itself is a result as far as I am concerned!

I had very low expectations of seeing something today due to location in eden valley between the lakes and pennines but looks as though luck maybe about to change?!

A few flakes falling here also after a shower early this morning left a few on the ground...

Not good to see further yellow warnings out for Cumbria rain on Tues & Weds. Our garden is beyond saturated after Friday and Saturdays deluge and we're at the top of a hill! The river Eden has been bursting its banks into fields all around so another 100mm in the surrounding fells is not going to be welcome. Appleby were on edge on Saturday and will be bracing themselves once again.
Unlike the snow, I know the rain will have no trouble falling as forecast!

Yes lost count number of times fronts and bands of showers have either fizzled, done a u-turn or just come to a complete halt and taken a different direction as they head to the Cumbrian border from all directions of the compass.. tomorrow another case, fizzling front over us.. possibly about 10 times now! Why can't this be the case when rain is forecast!
Wouldn't that be nice! Rain has no such problem but I can't recall a winter where, as you say, no matter what direction the snow is coming from, its never made it for one reason or another. So frustrating.

Looks very much like this unexpected precipitation is going to split whilst drifting north and miss us. Pretty much sums up this winter! Can't believe we've been so close so many times, yet missed all of it this winter.

Hoping one of these showers roughly heading in our direction actually drops something of note this morning! All streamers this week have missed us but maybe this one won't??

One poxy snow shower today that the strong sunshine soon dealt with. Just been speaking to a client some where around Glasgow who's snowed in with 18 inches of the stuff. That did not help my mood.

Pretty much sums up this winter that the streamers have set up to the north and south of me and the breakdown won’t reach me. Can’t buy more than a dusting this year.
Yup. Same here. Was hoping we had a better shout today but it appears not. Family in KO have had a fair bit and they're only a few miles away. Story of this winter so far!

Back in March 2018 we did pretty well on the western side of the Pennines although the Helm wind did whip up what snow there was into crazy drifts in places. Seeing as we have managed to miss out on nearly all the snow events so far this winter I'm hoping we will benefit next week. The snow shadow effect from a weak easterly or from the south or west means that invariably we end up with nothing.
Of course, when its raining, there's no such problem!

Flakes been floating around in the air most of the day but not amounted to anything yet. meanwhile the lakeland fells out the back of the house and the pennines behind me are not visible due to the snow. Meanwhile, I'm stuck in the middle in the green..
