  1. The nights in 02 barely went below freezing despite it being a cool mean max the cool spell in December 02, was ruined by temperatures at night that didn’t really differentiate from daytime temperatures night time temps were mostly always above freezing despite the days being cool/cold

i was born too long ago to remember

1981 was memorable as was 2009.

of course, there were many memorable snow events but not specifically in December

the year i joined netweather has to be the worst december - 2004

December 2002 was more of disappointment

Very much a regional thing I suspect, but I'd rate summer 2001 above every summer since 2015, with the exception of 2018. Same would go for summer 1999 which was very mixed (average June, good July, wet August) but not terrible.

Here we're in a quite prolonged poorer run I would say: since 2007 I'd rate 2013, 2014 and 2018 above average, 2009, 2010 and 2016 average and the rest varying degrees of below average.

And we still await a significantly sunnier than average August. The last was 2005, so we've now beaten the 16-year gap between 1959 and 1975. And as for sunny AND hot Augusts, if we don't get one next year it'll be a quite astounding 20 year gap. Biggest gap in the 20th century was I think 1911 to 1933.

Ah Yeh I see, we've had sunny Augusts since 05, August 05 was sunny here, so was August 07, sunniest August since 2003 here. But 07 was dull in the middle here. August 2016 had a sunny warm August.  2019 was warm and sunny too in August. None were overly sunny but they were all noticeably sunny to me and acceptable Augusts.  We haven't had any significantly hot and sunny August at all here since 2000. But we've had acceptable, pleasant ones. 2019 had hot weather in August but didn't last long. 2016 was pleasant and warm throughout tho.

Even though data wise 2019 was warmer duke to higher temperatures. I preferred 2016 August as the warmth was more prolonged.

2003 is our sunniest August so far, and warmest, but it was mostly hot a for a few days at beginning of August and heat went away. Although much of the month here was sunny and warm still it just wasn't overly hot.

No August so far has beaten the 2007 sunshine levels, although August 2016 in my opinion was better and warmer here.

We seemed to have batches of good and average/poor summers since 75 as follows

    75-76 very good

    77-81 poor

    82-84 average to good

    85-88 poor

    89-91 good to very good

    92-93 poor to average

    94-97 good to very good

    98-02 poor to average

    03-06 good to very good

    07-12 poor to average

    13-17 average to good

    18-2? average to good

2001 was a good Summer while June wasn't special, it was still mostly sunny throughout, apart from a few days  however beginning of June was not that good but luckily it improved, however here it wasn't that dull even then, but a bit cool,  The end of June however improved more, and got warmer and sunnier into July. July wasn't bad the warmth from June continued into July , and July 2001 was sunny throughout not wall to wall blue skies but the sun was mostly always around that month it didn't go away for a prolonged period of time like 2005, Mid-July went downhill a bit but was still warm apart from 2 days but it was still sunny (Here at least) End of July 01 improved and became warmer again still not that hot some days were hot but overall was mostly very warm and sunny. July 2001 here didn't really have a prolonged dull period like the end of 2005. The warmth in 2001 continued into August and August 01 was really nice and sunny mostly, and warm. No overly prolonged hot weather, although 30c was reached  but most of August 2001 was pleasant and sunny and summery.

  5. This is probably not perfect but it is okay I think.

I use this sometimes, the temperatures especially the low temperatures can be a bit off or missing sometimes but mostly I think it is close-near accurate especially Pre 2000. Although not perfect still

You choose the date, month and year you wanna look at I usually choose day 31 and then pick a month and year and it’ll load the full month you picked and give you the data for that month e.g. October 31 1995, it’ll give you the weather on the 31st day of October as well as the rest of October. Then on the map you need to click the UK and it’ll load up with red squares those are weather stations and then you just choose/click a weather station in uk

This one is more better for after 2000, it only records data from after 2000 anyways and is styled differently however some things still aren’t perfect but it is near enough ok. Looks mostly fine. Like I said not perfect but you can get a real gist of what the weather was generally like on both

This is the best site I’ve come across so far and best laid out even if it isn’t perfect it is the best one to look at and best one laid out and gives you a general gist of the months etc.

the site starts up in the Spanish but u have to change it to English if it ever goes back to Spanish I think.

there are probably better sites I’ve seen one before think but it’s hard to use and all the data is on one big white background, whereas this is more orderly even if it’s not perfect

Ah here 2006 only had cool nights, days were mostly normal but nights were cool, near freezing or just above. Think 2012 was better for a cooler start to November here where I am, also I had October snow ❄️ in 2012. And here it looks like the beginning to November 2012 was better than 2006, and went below freezing at one point. Also end of November 2012 was quite cold here too

Also November 2016 was also a cool start to November here in recent times for me anyway.  Days were cold/cool nights near freezing but 2012 had colder nights right at beginning of November.

I think one has to go back to 2006 for a chilly start to November. A northerly set in through Halloween then a cold clear high pressure settled in for the first seven days. Of course, we all know how the rest of the month panned out... ???

  8. I remember September 2016 quite well very nice warm September and felt summery to me. I remember it being sunny quite often but that September here had 130hrs of Sunshine. But to me that September felt very sunny and warm but that is just my experience. Can’t remember October 2016, probably wasn’t that special to me. But remember November 2016 quite well remember it being cold, and icy. I knew it was a colder November than usual, but that November had no snow sadly I was expecting it to snow due to the cold weather but sadly it never did. However Nov 2017 it snowed, but think 2016 was overall colder. Also I thought that The cold November 2016 would lead to a colder winter but it didn’t really lead to a cold winter, it was mostly quiet here, nothing special except from a bit of falling snow in Jan 2017.

Down here this summer has been absolutely awful in comparison to last year, where it was warm sunny and dry throughout with some major hot spells. This year has been mostly cloudy and wet, but no thunderstorms, and my highest temp so far is 24c back in early June. Recent daytime maxes have been stuck under 20c for weeks except for yesterday. I'd much rather last year in my south coastal location.

Ah I'm in Lincolnshire so that might be why.It has been a nice warm July no proper heat but sunny and warm. And often thundery and heavy rain more thunder than I can remember in recent times for a summer here anyway (Like the last 3 summer's or whatever). And when the sun comes out you can see the really dark puffy rain clouds in the distance it's been quite a nice beautiful interesting July here anyways much better than the previous one

I personally don't think it's been a bad summer so far IMBY, although admittedly I'm not a heat lover.  However, it's not like we have been in a 2007/2012 type pattern.

True this summer has been better than last year so far. Thundery, sunny, and mostly warm. June 2020 was good, similar to 2021 here But July 2021 has been much better so far than last July 2020. July 2020 here was duller than July 2012, August 2008 too and nearly as dull as July 2000. So far the summer has surpassed 2020 in terms of warmth and sunshine imo. And the heavy rain that comes over now and then often makes the summer quite interesting as I don't like boring dry weather all the time.

  11. Late August 2019 has a really nice thunderstorm here one of the strongest I've seen for a very long time here. Last May 2021, lots of thunderstorms too which was nice. June has been ok so far too for thunder we had a storm not long ago been quite thunder and rainy moreso than the past few years where I live I personally think anyway especially last May.
