  1. Heavy rain this morning with 1 rumble of thunder. Heavy rain at lunch time too. Passing storm about 10 miles away at 5.30 pm brought some great cloud structure to the east with around 10 loud rumbles.

Yes i will second that SM , heavy rain and 2 rumbles of Thunder in Rotherham 7:30-8:00 today folowed by another weak storm this afternoon. Excellent Cu- Nimb Fading away to the North as i type.

  2. Hope i've put this in the correct section

Yesterday afternoons storms produced some of the biggest rain fall i have seen in years here in Rotherham . Would you believe it my Electronic rain guage went on the blink . We had a kiddies wading pool in the middle of our 80ft by 36ft wide garden that we emptied yesterday morning before any storms came..The pool has fairly deep sides and measures 1.9m x 1.0m and i drew 65 litres out of the pool this morning from yesterdays storm . Do you think i would be able to gain any kind of measurement from this or not . its such a pity the rain guage broke .A couple of guys in Doncaster measuerd 17.4mm i think and 29.7mm from the same storm

If anyone can't think of anyway i could estimate or get a total from yesterday rain fall i would be pleased to here from them .

    Rotherham .

    thanks .

  3. We didnt get the torrential rain in the storm earlier this month. It was just 2 hours of heavy rain. Today was much better in south east sheffield. Lightning was better in the storm around midday which was 2 small cells, one over peak district and one over worksop area. These 2 joined up over this part of the world.

As i type there is still some impressive thunder rolling over towards rotherham.

2 pics are of gust front over us at 16.45 this afternoon and one is of this mornings storm clearing to the north.

Hi Stu, yes the Thunder is almost dying out now here in Rotherham and the rain was very intense at one stage . Just had one last loud clap ( the one that catches us all out when we think its finished)
