I would love to know how the Metar system works. I assume the data is gathered by the airports' weather stations and then relayed to a central point. Is this done by land line?
Then it must be transmitted to interested parties, ie. incoming aircraft. Does the pilot/autopilot have to select the correct data?
How is it received by others, eg. Net-Weather?

In Charts & Data, Current Weather, there seems to be most UK airports listed. Could Robin Hood Airport, Doncaster and Sheffield, be included, please.
