  1. Ok, i'm starting to become very surprised. Crewe got a bit this morning, just under 2cms, and as the temps came up over freezing point, so it slowly began to melt. At about 2:30pm it started to cloud over yet again. I was pretty certain we were done, but no... That blob that was around north east wales, around the Wrexham-Chester-A55 direction pivoted back and is now dropping on Crewe. Stunning.

It's not adding anything, it's light to moderate, and falling on already pretty soggy and slushy ground, but it's quite amazing the loop that this shower has gone through to get here on the pivot (if you track it back through the 30 min radar images).

  2. TEITS thanks for the warning ref : tonight / tomorrow morning. I'm out at 5am on Friday to work (Crewe to Congleton)

I should add that i've had huge fun reading all the threads over the past 48 hrs. This is a fantastic pool of poeple with constant updating on conditions all acroos the affected areas. 1-2 cms here.

  3. Been a clear, bright, and sunny morning here in Crewe. Clouds been slowly approaching from the east mainl;y in the last half an hour or so, and finally now at 11:55am the sun is now shaded by cloud. Congleton/Buxton would look to be the east/west limit for any snowfall so far. Buxton reporting 1cm as of 11am at the Harpur hill weather station.

I very much hope to be able to transfer a report from here to the next sub-forum soon :D

    Regards,

    Emlyn

  4. Hi all,

circa 10:15 this morning an odd flake was falling. We left here and travelled to Warrington from 10:45 - 11:30, no snow on the journey, then about 11:40 it started snowing again in Warrington, was still snowing lightly there when we left at 12:30, was treacherous at junction 19 on the M6 through the Knutsford area and along the A556 (1pm) Arrived back in Crewe to find it snowing really hard......it's been sporadic though. Light one minute, then a heavier pulse comes through.

Now 2:46pm and it's just an odd flake falling, roads are soaked here, all melted, but reasonable cover on cars and grass. Skies lightening to the north so looks like the end of the line for south cheshire.

Still, what an excellent surprise this has been this morning. We thought maybe just an odd shower if we were lucky, but a 3-4 hour event is an absolutely brilliant result, has really made my day.

Signal 1 said Congleton to Buxton road was shut off / impassable on the 1pm news.

Harpur hill in Buxton was reporting 1cm lying on the ground at 11:30am

  5. Was in Northwich between midday - 5:30pm. about 4-5 soft hail showers with bits of proper snow mixed in.. was getting a slight covering there so we left and headed back to Crewe, where it`s been yet more showers (this time proper snow) on/off since 6pm.

We`ve now got a dusting over all surfaces and it`s continuing here. Hearing the news coming from 20-30 miles north is very encouraging..

Buxton was reporting 3cm covering at 3:30pm, and will have had i bet at least another cm on top of that by 10pm. Temp currently Buxton -1.3c, dropping slowly.

  6. Morning...

The rain started here at about 8.20am, lightly at first. Now (8.55am) continuous moderate rain with some heavier pulses here and there. .....and just a couple of mins ago (which made me decide to post) was a long deep rumble of thunder.

Sidebar : Seen 5 flashes of Lightning last night at about 2.20am in Congleton, Cheshire (work) 2 of them fork lightning which was quite entertaining, although i suspect not for the low flying plane which i could see in that general direction. Those showers i believe moved north-east through the rest of the morning.

  7. Congleton, Cheshire.... 5pm Monday

    Buxton, Derbyshire 5.30pm Monday
