Metwatch I wonder if the old wives tale will pan out? Oak before Ash we're in for a splash, Ash before Oak we're in for a soak. I know around here the Oak trees have come into leaf before the Ash trees, this year. In fact the Oak trees bordering the end of our garden were in leaf early this year. Probably the result of so much rain for the last few months.

Yep, raining again. I went for a walk to see the heath fire damage that is only around 200 meters from where we live. Fortunately,I suppose, the rain is a welcome dampener on the burnt ground. The paths are just so muddy again, when I thought they were finally drying out! Sun Chaser This makes me think of being on a car journey, as a child, saying “Are we nearly there?” And the answer was yes not far now. But it still seemed ages before we got there. I’m hoping brighter days will eventually appear too.

I’m so impressed with the Icelandic authorities that they straight away get to work with the excavators building new berms etc to protect property and utility services. I know they are well prepared for this sort of scenario, but can you imagine in this country they would all still be standing around deciding what to do!

TwisterGirl81 I know the feeling, and I wouldn't say I usually suffer with SAD. I can't remember having a winter so grey and wet before, but maybe I just have a selective memory.

A miserable wet, grey day today. Got out for a walk early afternoon in the lighter rain. Lots of big puddles and grass muddy again. The water table must be very high. We had a few dry days and I thought everything was drying out. Several hours of rain and it's back to floods, where the ground can't drain quick enough.
