Looking good up here for the weekend !
Current Meto shows the following for Newcastle for Fri night _ Heavy snow showers, -3deg,NNW wind 25mph gusting to 41mph.
Could be an interesting walk back from the pub !!

notice how they have updated the weather warnings for the south east again with a posibility of 25cm snow! there is no weather warning for us as yet, but fingers crossed. Newcastle has been hard done by this winter compared to the rest of the UK.

I think the feature the forecasters are talking about is yet to appear (not sure though). However I am worried that the temperature will not favour anyone near the coast or without any altitude. We are at 0.6C currently and the main feature is about to strike.

Sleet/rain reported down the east coast, and Hull, already, which is very disappointing. Poor forecasting it must be said - this easterly has been a huge let down for some NE areas.
Its been pretty dissapointing in Newcastle upon tyne so far. Had some, but not much and its pretty wet. Hope the main band moving north delivers some prolonged snow

Yes, the two patches that normally survive (Sphinx and Pinnacles of Garbh Choire Mhor) both have a NE aspect. They sit at an altitude of 1140 and 1135 metres respectively.
