There’s always going to be conflict about how justified red warnings are. For me, it’s been wild, my office closed and I’m glad about that as I didn’t fancy driving 25 miles to Newport in this weather. met office always damned if they do and damned if they don’t. Surely to have a warning that there *could* be a serious risk is better than no warning at all, the winds were wild here earlier and plenty of damage and trees down, including one outside one of my offices which would’ve had quite a few people milling around outside if it hadn’t been closed, not sure what people want really,Weather warnings are about risk to life and property not how blowy it gets in my own back yard x glad it’s over tbh, IMO worst weather to have x

Very very light snow falling here atm. Not even enough to show on radar there are definitely a few flakes floating around!

It’s been lightly snowing/snizzling/graupeling most of the day here which I wasn’t expecting. Everything white including the road outside my house but not a vast amount, half a cm maybe lol. Still, nice to see and still coming down Driving might be dodgy in the morning!

Met office has just uploaded weather for the week by Alex Deakin on Facebook and Twitter. Mentions the risk of snow in the west at the end of the week

Just been reading the depressed regional thread , i feel sorry for them . U wait more than 3 years and u think its u time and u get suckered by the hyped Met Office stupid warnings only for a damp squid . I still think Thursday/Friday wont bring us much but i see it could all start again next weekend. Fun times for all.
I sympathise with them! It still hurts to think about that red warning literally on top of my house a few years back!

Anyone know what’s happen to the weathercast site? I was using it to get bryn Bach park’s weather station reports but now the link just goes to weatherpro. Really frustrating

Blimey! I've got whiplash from reading these posts lol! Still snowing heavily here, not chunky flakes though it has to be said. guesstimate about 2cm down.

It's absolutely chucking down here in Tredegar. Started very light about 4.30pm, had to go to Merthyr and got heavier as I headed there. Came back and my road in my street already had a covering

My timing has been a little off... There is actually precipitation over most of Southeast Wales at the moment but it's failing to reach the ground due to evaporation, something which is common in cold air. The moderate/heavy stuff is now fringing onto the coast around Porthcawl, though, so expect it be snowing within the next hour.
I was wondering why the radar was showing pink here for the last hour yet it was dry outside. Didn't think about evaporation

Looks like rain here despite radar being pink! Glad really cos I've got to get to Newport for work and am running a training session today! I love snow but for once I'm glad it's not here! Hopefully will hold off til this afternoon if we do get any that settles as I don't fancy driving home in it!

Snowing here in Tredegar at the moment. Nothing too heavy but lots of flakes blowing around in that wind

Snowing here in Tredegar! Readily sticking too.

Snowing here at the moment. Massive flakes, not like the powdery stuff from a few days ago.

I'm more about the warnings than Derek tbh. I love Derek! The red warning was issued only a few hours ahead which I don't think gives enough time (I accept Amber had been issued already but I don't think it has as much "clout") and was confusing for this area to say the least. I have the meto app on my phone which sent me the red warning for Tredegar. Looking at the weather forecast, there was no red warnings icons for Tredegar, only Amber. If you look at the red warning image, the heads of the valleys road (and therefore towns of Merthyr, Rhymney, Tredegar, Ebbw Vale, Brynmawr etc.) is outside of the red warning area. Someone wasn't very good with their red marker pen. This area got very badly hit.

I’m not so sure, both bbc and metcheck showing snow throughout the week for here. Obv all will change. I’m not expecting snowmageddon but we should see something.
