Light snow in Bristol too. Just woken up to check out. Flurries at the moment but from what I see on car it must have been a bit more intense before. Nothing major of course but still nice...! :lazy:
Temperature down to +1.1 C

Hi all,
just wanted to show few pictures from Florence, that yesterday has been hit by the biggest snowfall from 1985.
It's quite unusual to get snow in Florence, definitely as much as 25 cm in the city centre, as happened yesterday between 12.30 and 21.30...!
My parents, on the hills just around had 35cm of snow...!
I missed this one unfortunately...but I had my 3-4 cm here in Bristol...! :smiliz19: :smiliz19:
Enjoy it! Snow Queen
Ciao,
Leon

Its snowing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
where are u exactly?
-
snow still falling at the rate of 0.5 to 1cm an hour here - wonder how many more hours it will last? I have to try driving at 9:30am too!
At time it is intense but it doesn't really top up properly, at least here around whiteladies...! Maybe we need slightly colder...?
-
Looks like it is intensifying now...
-
Latest NAE has a 10 over Bristol (a 0 over Yatton though, of course) and a 4 over Cheltenham.
Well...at the moment here is very very light...maybe by end of February we will get 10 cm...!
-
From forecast though it seems to intensify in the night, while looking at the radar does not look like that... What do you think guys? I am talking for Bristol area...

GFS update.
Slightly less ppn, slightly better temperature.
-
GFS update now
less ppn at T+24
L at 970hPa instead of 975hPa
Low on Cornwall at T+30. Ppn still reduced
-
Thanks nick this is a classic s west snow event looks ever so promising seen this synoptics only 3 times in my life time producing 20foots snow drifts at least 12hrs of snow on the 3 occasions.
When's the NAE model output?

I do not think it is gonna get to Bristol if not really really marginal...!
-
Soz, just had to report real heavy snow again here now
Were you not gone to bed...???
-
Bristolians should get something from this yes - how much remains to be seen.
The direction look WNW...I don't think we get a lot...if we do. If you see GFS prec map for now it look quite accurate. Let's wait and see

Is there anybody from Bristol on line tonight...? is this band of ppn gonna get here in your opinion...?
-
your just gonna have to watch teh radar mate.
The ppn keeps dying out and starting again. so the only real way to tell i sjust watch
True...it was just to talk a bit and get some opinions around...

For Tue it might start as as snow and turn quickly into rain. It look to me as well very very border line with these temperatures... I hope I am wrong of course.

well Bristol is not cooling off rapidly - many urban stations reporting -3 to -4 - it was about a degree cooler this time last night so I am doubting if it will be the coldest night of the winter here.
Martyn...I am not so sure about that. If you see yesterday night it at midnaight was already below -4 and then dropped only 2.5˚C...it the breeze stops I guess there is still time the go below -6.6... I wuold like though to see a High lower than 0˚. Today you went sooo close...!

Hi guys
The (Sunday 12z) continuity of the UKMO-GM might prove of interest..... cold enough, anyone?
Hi everybody...I am fairly new in this forum. I have a couple of questions regarding this charts.
1. What model is it?
2. I see SUN12Z on all the 3 maps +72 then +84 and then +96...what does that mean? When the model has been initialized?
Sorry if they are stupid question, I just would like to understand.
Thanks,
Leo

Hmmm, the blob has thrown up a Northern arm in the last 2:45 frame on raintoday. Maybe it'll get heavier in a minute.
yeap 2.45 slightly better...still nothing serious though...!
-
Whats coming through Bristol is heavy but fine. Not awe-inspiring but will eventually give a good cover as it seems set to continue for a few hours. Looks like a conveyor belt feeding it up through Brighton and then along the M4. (as long as it keeps its sourtherly component for a while out of Brighton)
To call it heavy snow you need a good amount of fantasy... :o :o

If this is correct it is clear that it's going to miss Bristol...
